2025 Spring Season NBNM: TBall Softball Baseball

Welcome to the 2025 Spring Season of North Bellmore North Merrick Little League. Please review all of this information before completing registration.

**CHANGES FOR 2025 - PLEASE REVIEW**
  • New for 2025, there will be a 6U Softball Division for girls born in years 2018 and 2019. Girls are welcome to join this new division or remain in 6U Coach Pitch (2019s) or 7U Baseball (2018s).
  • Some parents in 7U through 10U baseball will be given additional division choices based on their child's date of birth. Please read below for additional information.
  • Children born 9/1/17 through 11/30/17 will be given the option to move up to 8U division (primarily kid pitch) or remain in 7U for an additional season (primarily coach pitch)
  • Children born 9/1/16 through 11/30/16 will be given the option to move up to 9U baseball (real baseball) or remain in 8U for an additional season (primarily coach pitch)
  • Children born 9/1/15 through 11/30/15 will be given the option to move up to 10U baseball (real baseball) or remain in 9U for an additional season (real baseball, but younger kids).
  • Children born 9/1/14 through 9/1/14 will be given option to move up to 12U (Majors Division - Very Competitive Baseball) or remain in 10U for an additional season.
  • Why the change? A few years ago, NBNMLL started building their divisions based on grade level based on parent feedback (12/1 through 11/30). Unfortunately, this has created some issues within the league as we are not following little league age cutoff guidelines which is 9/1 to 8/30. For draftable divisions, we will begin the process of returning to the little league age guidelines. In the meantime, we wanted to give parents impacted by this change a choice on where to play.
  • FINAL NOTE: The league reserves the right to move players up or down based on coach/director evaluation and/or recommendation in order to balance division sizes.

Games and Practices
All players will be assigned to a team. Each team will have 1 practice and at least 1 game per week.
  • Practice day and times as set by the head coach based on their schedule and field availability. Practice schedules are finalized once teams are created (generally by late March). If you have a night you cannot practice, please put that into the 'Other requests section during registration'. Though not guaranteed, director will attempt to honor request for non-draftable divisions (see below)
  • Games are generally on Saturdays. The older divisions will start with weeknight games at the beginning of the season. Younger divisions may have weeknight games as weather improves (mid May through June)
  • All teams will play at least 10 games. Older divisions (Baseball - 9U, 10U, and 12U and Softball 10U and 12U) also have playoff games starting in June.

IMPORTANT - Starting with 8U Boys (2nd Grade Division) and 10U Softball, teams are formed via a draft. No friend or coach requests can be honored for 8U, 9U, 10U, and 12U Baseball and 10U and 12U Softball. The draft is meant to even the talent on each of the teams to support a competitive balance. Remember, all 5 of the main elementary schools within our boundary (Park, Newbridge, Martin, Dinklemeyer, and Saw Mill) all go to Middle School at Grand Ave. Little league provides a great opportunity for your child to meet new friends outside of their current school and it will help the transition to middle school.

Depending on your division, you will be contacted with specific details regarding your team assignment at some point during the month of March.
  • 8U, 9U, 10U, and 12U Baseball and 10U, 12U Softball in early March
  • 4/5U, 6U, 7U Baseball and 8U Softball in late March

Please consider signing up as a volunteer, especially if your child is in the Pre-K or Kindergarten division. We are an all-volunteer league and are always looking for help at the younger age levels.

Equipment Needs
Uniforms (hat, pants, shirt) are provided by the league and handed out generally at 1st practice.
All players need to have their own youth batting helmets with full cage (No C flaps)
All players must have their own glove
Players are welcomed to bring their own bats, but they must be USA Baseball Stamped (USA Bats). Team bats are also provided for ages 8U and below.
Male players must wear protective cups
Chest protectors are recommended for all players
