Code of Conduct

REQUIRED: The PVYBL Board requires each parent/guardian to complete the PVYBL Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct agreement and each player to complete the PVYBL Player Code of Conduct agreement.

Use of School Facilities and other School District Policies

Please review the Penns Valley Area School District's "Use of School Facilities" policy. All publicly available Penns Valley Area School District policies are available through the school's website.

Training

We highly recommend that all parents/guardians become familiar with the league By-Laws & Code of Conduct, with an emphasis on the following key sections:

  • Appendix I: Player Code of Conduct (pg. 13)
  • Appendix Ia: Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct (pg. 14)
  • Appendix II: Observation Skill Sheets (pg. 22)
We also highly recommend that all parents/guardians complete Online Concussion Training, provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC also provides various Fact and Information Sheets and Cards for parents/guardians.

We recommend the following learning resources:

Equipment

PVYBL recommends that parents/guardians prepare their players with the following equipment:

  • A good pair of sneakers with ankle protection and excellent traction
  • A composite or leather basketball appropriate for their age and skill level
    • Jr. High - Size 27.5
    • Jr. Varsity & Varsity Girls - Size 28.5
    • Jr. Varsity Boys - Size 28.5
    • Varsity Boys - Size 29.5
  • An equipment bag
  • A clean towel
  • A quality water bottle with their name written on it
  • Goggles if eye protection is desired
  • A mouth guard if mouth protection is desired

Communications

Numerous communications, many electronic in nature, will be sent out by the PVYBL Board, its respective members, and league volunteers during the year. In this age of overwhelming spam E-mail and phone messages, it is increasingly difficult to ensure that the right message gets to the right person at the right time. This is especially true when a message is being sent to a large group of people - behavior that can regularly be flagged as spam activity.

Some of you may experience issues receiving electronic communications from the league. Remember that most electronic messaging is a broadcast with no indication as to whether or not the intended recipient received the transmission. We do regularly check statistics from our bulk E-mail messages and attempt to address any issues that are flagged.

We recommend the following when it comes to messaging from the league:

  • All members of the league should regularly check the website for news and updates - especially right before events are scheduled to occur.
  • If you believe you are not receiving electronic communications from the league, please check your Spam, Junk, or related folders to see if the messages are being incorrectly flagged. If so, follow the guidance from your E-mail provider for help with resolving the issue.
  • Add the following two E-mail addresses to your list of contacts:
  • Head coaches can also pass-through critical information to the parents/guardians of their team members.

If you are aware of someone who continues to have issues receiving electronic communications from the league, please contact the PVYBL Board or have the individual contact us themselves.
