Update On All Stars

A few months ago, it did not look like we would have a baseball season this year…and here we are going into our last week of the regular season with playoffs to follow. On behalf of the Board of ELL we would like to thank all of the coaches, players, and parents for adhering to this year’s safety guidelines to make this Spring/Summer season possible.

At the conclusion of playoffs, Ellington will be having teams participate in the annual multi-league All-Star tournament.  We are planning to place teams in the 12U, 11U, and 10U divisions.  The 12U and 11U teams will follow our traditional process of being selected by the Majors managers and coaches, and these teams will be announced on our website and our facebook page the evening after the championship game.  The All-Star format will be slightly different this year, as it will be played as a double elimination tournament, thus teams are only guaranteed a minimum of 2 games as a team is eliminated once they incur 2 losses.

Due to this year’s unique circumstances of not having a Minors division of play, we will be holding an evaluation for players age 8, 9 or 10 (must be an Ellington resident) interested in being selected for the 10U team. This evaluation will be conducted by several experienced coaches in order to select a team to participate in the 10U division (should we have enough players interested in participating in this tournament).

10U All-Star evaluations will be held on the M1 and Farm fields on Sunday, August 16.  This will be an extensive evaluation so please assume that your player will be participating in this event for up to 2 hours. Additional logistics are still being determined and will be communicated by the end of the week. If your child would like to be included in this evaluation or you would like additional information please contact either the Majors Director (John Martello @ [email protected] ) or the league President (Harold Lally @ [email protected]).

There will be a $50 fee to participate on an All-Star team this season to cover the cost of the uniform, hat, and umpire fees.

We will be sending out news and updates regarding the fall season shortly. We are also looking forward to providing baseball options for our younger players in a couple of weeks!!!
