Happy New Year
All!
The Salem Youth
Baseball League (SYBL) has officially opened softball and baseball registration
for the spring 2020 season. Upon registering,
your children can participate in the SYBL's winter practice sessions held at
the Salem Elementary School gym and MPR.
Starting the week
of January 13th, SYBL has reserved the gym on Tuesday and Thursday evenings,
for pitchers & catchers (one evening each for baseball &
softball). On Sundays there will be sessions for all levels of softball
and baseball. We're currently in the process of finalizing the details of
the winter practice sessions and plan to disseminate this information very soon
via the SYBL website, SYBL Facebook page, league email from returning players
and the school's "Wednesday folder".
If your child
hasn't played baseball or softball before or played in the past but you're
uncertain if your child wants to play baseball or softball this coming spring,
then I encourage you to register now/early and take advantage of the winter
practice sessions.
By registering now
and participating in the winter practices, your child can get out of the house
for few hours (at least once a week) during the winter months, get a little
exercise, socialize with friends, have fun while receiving baseball/softball
instruction to help them improve their skill level.
If your child is
enjoying themselves and having fun, then simply do nothing, as they're already
registered for the spring session. However, if prior to the league
assessments or tryout date (in a few months), your child indicates that they
don't wish to play baseball or softball during in the spring season, then we
can issue you a refund. This makes it a win-win situation.
For any parents
wanting to assist at the winter sessions or planning to manage/coach baseball
or softball during the spring, please indicate your interest in volunteering
upon registering. Little League Baseball of American mandates that all
volunteers must complete a background check. Upon indicating your interest in
volunteering for the SYBL (during the registration process), our Safety Officer
Mike Bednarz, can send you a link for the background check via email.
Additionally, if
you would like to volunteer for a vacant SYBL Board position or to assist the
SYBL in any capacity then please email us at [email protected]
Thank you and we
look forward to seeing soon!
