DISNEY SOCCER SHOWCASE U16 SEMI-FINALIST

The Girondins USA U16 squad’s recent performance at the 2018 Disney Soccer Showcase earned them the semi-finalist title in their U16 division.

Over the recent Thanksgiving weekend the Girondins USA U16 squad traveled to Orlando, Florida for three days of competition.  As first time competitors at the Disney Soccer Showcase, Girondins USA players showcased their technical skills, athleticism and years of training in front of college coaches on the biggest soccer stage in the United States.

The first match saw the squad facing a team from Georgia.  Girondins USA ladies came out strong taking a quick 1-0 lead before the half.  A second goal in the 60th minute by midfielder Natalie Price secured the 2-1 victory. 

Saturday’s opponent played a fast physical game with the Girondins USA players falling behind 0-2 in the first half.  The squad came back stronger in the second half, but came up short in the end.  Scoring just one goal in the last 5 minutes of the match, they lost by a final score of 1-2.

One last match on early Sunday morning concluded the Disney Soccer Showcase for the Girondins USA U16 squad.  Facing a local Florida team in the final match, the Girondins USA U16 players were determined to end their Disney Soccer experience with a victory.  A free kick by defender Alice Freeman secured the first goal just before the half.  Midfielder Natalie Price locked in the 2-0 shutout with a goal ten minutes into the second half.
