FIRST ANNUAL BORDEAUX USA SUMMER CAMP AT MARYLAND SOCCERPLEX

The first annual Bordeaux USA summer camp occurred at the Maryland Soccerplex, one of the nations top elite sports complexes.  FCGB Center of Excellence, an affiliate club to Girondins USA presented the two-week preseason training camp.  During the first two weeks of August over 70 young soccer players between the ages of 8 and 18 years trained with professional coaches from Girondins de Bordeaux France, Girondins USA and FCGB Center of Excellence coaches.  

Over 70 players attended both sessions of Bordeaux USA Summer Camp.  Each player focused on ball control, first touch techniques, attacking drills, shooting and much more throughout the week. Girondins USA CEO Nenad Vilotijevic in addition to Girondins USA coach Dejan Lunova and FCGB Center of Excellence coach James Myers dedicated his time and soccer knowledge to these young players’ development. 

Bordeaux USA welcomed Coach Sylvain Blaquart from FC Girondins de Bordeaux Academy France for Session I of summer training camp.  Blaquart was instrumental in directing small-sided drills that incorporated lots of touches on the ball for our young players.techniques, attacking drills, shooting and much more throughout the week. Girondins USA CEO Nenad Vilotijevic in addition to Girondins USA coach Dejan Lunova and FCGB Center of Excellence coach James Myers dedicated his time and soccer knowledge to these young players’ development. 

TWO WEEKS OF PRESEASON PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Session II featured Coach Julia Arpizou from FC Girondins de Bordeaux Féminines. Coach Julia shared some great techniques with our Girondins USA players. She spent several sessions focusing on field positioning, touch techniques and tactics aimed to improve our players’ overall game.

Futhermore, Girondins USA Director of Coaching and former Bordeaux player, Nisa Saveljic, worked alongside coaches Arpizou, Vilotijevic, Lunova and Myers.  Focusing on the small details that turn good players into great players was key to the overall success of training camp.
