Note from the Director:
The greatest battles are won in practice. Whether you are coaching U4-6 or U19s what they learn in practice is what you will see on the pitch. The information in this section is provided to assist in developing players of all ages, creating players that love the game and love to improve. As a coach you are a very important component of player development and have 6 tasks (these tasks are part of the USYSA Grassroots program but adding what I expect):
1. Coach Games - Provide the necessary strategy and direction for your players to be successful on the pitch;
2. Coach Training Sessions - Develop the individual and the team;
3. Lead the Team - Develop a sense of team pride and professionalism;
4. Lead the Player - Give 100% attention and devotion to each individual;
5. Manage the Performance Environment - Set clear expectations, ensure you provide the proper tools;
6. Leadership - Be what you want each player to be.
I expect each coach to model professional behavior. This means do not abuse the game officials, other coaches, other players, parents, or staff. This also means not tolerating such behavior from your players. You, and your players, represent the Electric City Soccer Club and its members. Please always remember that.
Please visit the Coaching Resources area often for updates, and as always if you have any questions or need help, please contact me.
Thank you for your service,
Tim Young
