Announcement: Waxhaw Supplemental Tryouts

Welcome to Waxhaw Soccer Club!

Waxhaw Soccer Club is proud to be a league of the Waxhaw Athletic Association.  We are a non-profit organization committed to developing the love of soccer within our players and our community.  We have a program to suit children ages 3 to 16 at every skill level.

Our Micro and Early Development programs introduce basic elements of the game in a non-competitive environment.  Our curriculum emphasizes individual skill development and having FUN!    For players aged 3-6

Our Recreational program is a great way for players to have fun, learn the sport and develop a love for the game. For players aged 7-15 (U8-U16)

Our Academy and Classic programs offer a more competitive program for advanced players.  Tryouts for those programs have concluded for the 2019-2020 playing year.  Tryouts for 2020-2021 will take place in May 2020.

For more detailed program descriptions, please select your program of interest under the Soccer menu bar above.

If you have any questions, send them to Mark Shaffer at [email protected].

Safety-Training Procedures

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and NCYSA, as offered specific guidance to us during North Carolina's Phase II tiered re-opening.

Before players can train or tryout, parents must sign the attached "Hold No Harm" document.  We ask that, if you have the means, you print, sign, and bring the release with you to your first day of training.  We will have copies for you to sign, but this may take time.  If you cannot print and bring the release, please at least read through it carefully so that signing is faster.

New Tryout Plan! Please review the following prior to arriving at the field for tryout: Tryout Procedures at Nesbit Field 7

We want you to know the following:

  1. How we will keep kids safe during training and tryouts
  2. How the field will look during training and tryouts.
  3. How we'd like you to pick-up and drop off
  4. How tryouts work before, during, and after
  5. How a sample training activity that complies with the NC Dept. Health and Human Services looks
  6. How you proceed if your child does or does not receive an offer to play based on the tryout
Please look over the manual and let us know if you have any questions.

Summer Camps and Summer Series Opportunities!

Waxhaw Soccer has revised its summer programs with safety in mind.  We have decided to remove our 3v3 program and our programs specifically designed to serve our youngest age groups.  Our focus is to now provide opportunities for players to focus on individual skills which require no contact.  All participants will be expected to adhere to our new policies regarding training (see attached document).  Our roster for these opportunities will be limited to ensure that we keep the ratio of coaches to players at 1:10, so we must place a cap on the number of player we can accept.  Once we reach this number, we will create a waiting list.  Registration is now open for limited enrollments at waxhawsoccer.org.

 Extended Day Camps:

Waxhaw will host two extended-day camps in the summer for nearly all of its age groups, abilities, and soccer experience.

We have designed Camp 1 for everyone.   Campers will celebrate the most popular sport in the world, focusing on one technical component each day.  Sure, the goal is to have fun, but campers will learn an incredible amount, building mastery toward ball control, 1v1 attacking moves, changing directions, passing and receiving, ball striking, and tactical instruction using a combination of the latest interactive games and technical training activities.

Camp 2 focuses its attention on preparing campers for the fall season ahead.  While its program is similar to Camp 1, its intensity and pace are designed for those who really want to be challenged while having a great time playing the sport they love.

Programs:

 Camp 1: June 15-19

·                 Who:  Ages 5-18

·                 When:  9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.

·                 Where:  Nesbit Park

·                 Cost:  $110 per camper;  discounts will be offered for entire teams (6 or more players)

·                 Operated by Waxhaw’s Directors of Coaching

 Camp 2: July 20-24

·                 Who:  Ages 5-18

·                 When:  9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.

·                 Where:  Nesbit Park

·                 Cost:  $110 per camper;  discounts will be offered for entire teams (6 or more players)

·                 Operated by Waxhaw’s Directors of Coaching

Waxhaw Soccer Skills Series:

We’re excited to bring this technical series back to Waxhaw for players who want to develop their skills to build well-rounded, experienced soccer players.  The advantage of the series is that it is spread throughout July, so players can maintain touches on the ball and exposure to soccer without a heavy commitment all at once.  The series also focuses on the game’s hottest topics in a week-by-week curriculum format while giving every player the opportunity to practice in between schedule series dates and master what they learn each week.

·        Who: Ages 6-18

·        When: July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23

o   Ages 6-10: 6:00-7:00 P.M.

o   Ages 11-18 7:15-8:15 P.M.

·        Where: Nesbit Park

·        Cost: $100

Operated by Waxhaw’s Directors of Coaching and Coaching Staff
