Becoming a Youth Soccer Referee

Want to Referee for the Cardinal Soccer Club?

The Cardinal Soccer Club adheres to the USSF requirement that referees to be at least 13 years of age, and hold a current USSF “Grass Roots” (or higher) referee’s license.

Concussion Awareness Certificate.

 

Per Ohio State Law – all youth sports officials must obtain and maintain a concussion awareness certificate. For CSC, the referee assignor is responsible for collecting the certificates from each individual referee, before a referee can be assigned games. There are costs to attend the class. The fees cover administration, instructors, and rental of classroom if needed.

For 2022, CSC will also provide a $25 credit for first time referees who officiate for CSC. Please contact Len Kosatka (257-2926) or [email protected] for details or any questions on becoming a referee.

 

 

Becoming a “Grass Roots” referee.


“Grass Roots” referees can officiate Recreation, Travel, Premier, State League, and youth leagues or tournaments.

To be certified as a “Grass Roots” referee, you must take an on-line class, which includes; on-line classes, quizzes, and a test. The student must pass the on-line quizzes and tests. Following completion of the on-line portion, the student must complete an in-person class.

After attaining “Grass Roots” certification, referees must re-certify every year. Recertification consists of an on-line class and exam.  There is a fee for the annual recertification that is typically less than the cost of the novice certification.

It is up to the referees to contact assigners to get game assignments.

VOLUNTEER

Are you interested in getting involved? Here at Cardinal Soccer Club we are always looking for volunteers. If interested in any of the listed positions below, please send an email to [email protected] to express your interest in the desired position.

Available positions

Age Group Commissioners  

• Responsible for assigning teams
• Responsible for Coaches in age division (credentials, compliance, etc)
• Uniform and picture distribution

Field Coordinator


• point of contact between city and/or facility with any issues
• acquire necessary permits for field use
• oversee lining of the fields

Webmaster (filled)

• Update design of club website within Blue Sombrero hosting parameters
• Maintain content including periodic updates to information
• Create and maintain club spiritwear online store

Marketing Director (filled)

• evaluate and develop marketing strategy to increase membership
• plan, develop, coordinate efforts to increase presence within the community
• develop strategies to build brand awareness
• Manage Social Media Accounts
• Purchase, store, and display banners, signs, etc.

Club Secretary (filled)


• Responsible for taking minutes at leadership meetings and publishing them as needed
• Stores club documents and oversees disposal of such as per by-laws.
• Secretary shall notify necessary parties of any improper acts or behavior by other Officers, or Trustees
• Responsible for administering CSC Conflict of Interest for all trustees and officers


Registrar (filled)

• oversee all related aspects of registration issues
• Set-up season registrations on site
• Assign players and coaches to team on website

• make player adjustments (age, team, etc.)
• process refunds

Uniform Coordinator (filled) 
  
 
• Submit sponsor information and uniform order to supplier
• Inspect uniforms for accuracy to order placed
• ensure on-time delivery from supplier
• distribute uniform to 
Commissioners
• process add-on orders as needed

Volunteer Recruiter (filled)

• identify and fill volunteer positions

Equipment Manager

• inventory, distribute, and collect Club equipment
