I pledge on behalf of myself and my family to be responsible for our words and actions while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in a Bridgeport Jerry West Basketball event and shall conform our behavior to the following code of conduct:
          
A) Physical Contact Misconduct:
1) No individual shall at any time strike, shove, threaten to strike, or lay a hand upon a Player, coach, assistant coach, score keeper, book keeper, official or spectator.
2) No individual shall use unnecessarily rough tactics during the course of a game.
        
B) Verbal and Visual Misconduct:
1)  No individual shall engage in an abusive, verbal attack upon any player, coach, assistant coach, score keeper, book keeper, official or spectator on the basketball court and/or in the stands.
2)  No individual shall use trash talk, profane, obscene, or vulgar language under any circumstances on the basketball court and/or in the stands.
3)  No individual shall engage in an objectionable demonstration of dissent or unsportsmanlike conduct such as throwing equipment or any other forceful action.
4)  No individual shall contend the decision of an official

 C) General Misconduct:
 1)  No individual shall refuse to abide by an officials decision.
2)  No individual shall appear on a basketball court and/or in the stands under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with the use of tobacco products.

 D) Parents Code of Conduct:
 1)  Encourage your child to play by the rules.
 2)  Do not embarrass your child by yelling at players, coaches, assistant coaches, officials and other spectators.
3)  Know and study the rules of the game, and support the officials on and off the basketball court.
4)  Applaud the good efforts in both victory and defeat, and enforce the positive points of the game.
5)   Recognize the importance of volunteer coaches, assistant coaches and officials.

E) Spectators Code of Conduct:
1)  Display good sportsmanship.  Always respect players, coaches, assistant coaches, officials and other spectators.
2)  Act appropriately; do not taunt or disturb other fans; enjoy the game together.
3)  Support the coaches, assistant coaches and officials by trusting their judgment and integrity.

F) Coaches and Assistant Coaches Conduct:
1)  Winning is a consideration, but not the only one, nor the most important one.
2)  Be a positive role model to your players.
3)  Be generous with your praise when it is deserved, be consistent and honest, be fair and just;          do not criticize players in public; and don’t yell at players.
4)  Adjust to the personal needs and problems of players.
5)  Organize practices that are fun and challenging for your players.
6)  Maintain an open line of communication with your player’s parents.
7)  Be concerned with the overall development of each player.

G) Players Code of Conduct:
1)  Play for fun.
2)  Work hard to improve your skills.
3)  Be a team player, get along with your teammates.
4)  Learn teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline.
5)  Be on time for practices and games.
6)  Learn the rules and play by them.
7)  Respect your coaches, your teammates, your parents, your opponents and the officials.
8)  Never argue with an official’s decision.

I) Zero Tolerance Policy:
               In an effort to make Bridgeport Jerry West Basketball a more desirable and rewarding experience for all participants, the officials of the games will be instructed that no arguing or questioning of officials calls from coaches, assistant coaches, score keepers, book keepers, players, and/or spectators will be permitted.

 I hereby agree that if I and/or my family fail to conform our conduct to the foregoing while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in a Bridgeport Jerry West Basketball event I and/or a member of my family will be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to the following in any order or combination:

-Verbal warning issued by the league president, the commissioner of the league, and/or the officials officiating the event.
-Immediate ejection from the basketball event issued by the league president, the commissioner of the league, and/or the officials officiating the event.  Any ejection will result in the suspension of the next game and all practices leading up to the next game after the offense has occurred.
-Season suspension issued by the league board.Add Content...
