Pop Warner Football

More Than Just Athletes!

We believe that our high standards give the children a sense of responsibility and appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them develop later on in life! Our ultimate goal is to safely provide our players with football skills, fundamentals and experiences to help them compete successfully and secure position placement on a local high school football team. Our team has been developed and organized to ensure, as well as to enhance, the emotional, physical, social and educational well-being of our athletes. Our program promotes the ideals of teaching good sportsmanship, responsibility, hard work, sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, concentration, friendship and self-discipline in youth while instructing the game of football in a positive and safe environment. We strive to develop the individual growth of our athletes through the spirit of competition, discipline, and fair play.

Coaches

All Avalon Pop Warner coaches are certified by USA Football to teach proper blocking/defeating blocks and tackling techniques in a better and safer way. The certification also covers health and safety, anti-abuse training, an overview of the Football Development Model, and more. 

Also, any volunteer, whether a coach or board member must pass a criminal background check each year.

Safety First

Avalon Pop Warner places value on safety measures that make a difference. We have done things in football like reduce contact to 25% of practice time, eliminate kickoffs for our youngest divisions and require that any player who suffers a suspected head injury receive medical clearance from a concussion specialist before returning to play. We recondition our helmets EVERY year to ensure effectiveness. 

Teams

Practice and Games:

Our season begins August 1st. Each player is required to condition for 10 hours before they can begin tackle football practice. The Avalon Wolves practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. 

The regular season is comprised of 8 - 10 games. Depending on the team's record, playoffs will follow for 6U and above. 8U and above compete for a spot at the Pop Warner Super Bowl at Camping World Stadium.

Equipment:

Players are issued a helmet, soft shell chin strap, shoulder pads, football game pants, pads if needed, a practice jersey,  game jerseys and walk through uniform. This equipment must be returned at the end of the season. Players will need to provide their own cleats and practice pants.

11U - 9-11 years old DOB - 8/1/2011 – 7/31/2014
12U - 10-12 years old DOB - 8/1/2010 - 7/31/2013
13U - 11-13 years old DOB - 8/1/2009 – 7/31/2012
14U - 13-14 year old DOB - 8/1/2008 - 7/31/2011
