Code of Conduct
This code of conduct has been adopted by the Garden Spot Youth Baseball Program in alignment with our mission statement to provide a "safe and healthy environment" for kids and is expected to be followed by all coaches, parents/fans, and players that are involved and attend any GSYB function.
Expected Conduct For GSYB Coaches, Parents, and Players
I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.
I will ensure that my players always arrive on time, properly equipped and uniformed.
I (and my guests) will treat each player, parent, coach, official and spectator equally and with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.
I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect, courtesy, and positive support for all players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
I will not encourage any behavior or practice that would endanger the health and well being of athletes.
I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player or spectator such as booing, taunting, or using profane language or gestures.
I (and my guests) will abstain from hurtful criticism, ridicule or belittling of players.
I (and my guests) will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss or confront them at the game.
I will maintain an open line of communication with the coaches. I will take the time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
I will refrain from coaching or directing my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team. I will encourage all players to play hard and perform to the best of their abilities.
I will actively be involved in GSYB and team events, recognizing the importance of attendance and participation by parents and volunteers at all levels. I will provide constructive criticism, positive feedback and ideas for the improvement of GSYB’s programs and activities.
I (and my guests) will not use or possess alcohol, tobacco or drugs at any GSYB event or facility.
Policy Violations
1st violation - warning.
2nd violation - game suspension for player and/or parent.
3rd violation - Board will meet to discuss additional penalties.
