At the end of each season the North Asheville coaches will come together in each division to select the All Star team for each age group. Little League International sets the parameters of each tourney team. North Asheville fields teams in the 10-12 (4A or Majors), 9-10 (3A or Minors), and 6-8 (2A or special games) age groups. The goal is to create the most competitive team to compete a the district and potentially state level.
The teams will be selected from a pool of players nominated by each coach. Usually each team nominates 5 players to create the pool players. Then there will be an anonymous voting process where 10 to 12 players are voted onto the team. During this process coaches are not allowed to vote for kids on their own team, only nominees from other teams. The head coach of the team is then allowed to add the last two players to the team.
The head coach for each team is approved by the NALL board of directors. It is a person who exemplifies the spirit of Little League and the coach we think gives the team the best chance to win.
The playing and practice dates usually follow the end of our season and run until late June. If our team is fortunate enough to win the district tourney then they will advance to the state tourney in early July.
When the team is selected we will post a list of players who made the team and then the head coach will contact them.
