About Summer League Baseball
Player Pitch Baseball:
Ages – 9-12 year-olds and 8 year-olds who played AA Minors in Spring season.
Summer League baseball typically spans 5-6 weeks, starting in mid-June and ending in late July. The main focus is on providing participants with ample opportunities for development and growth. It's common for participants to miss a week or two due to vacations and other commitments.
The rules for Summer League baseball may change yearly to best fit the participants' abilities and baseball knowledge. Generally, AAA Minors rules will be used. At this level, Little League rules are modified so that each player must play at least three innings by the end of the fifth inning, including at least one inning in the infield (pitcher or catcher included).
Competition Level:
- Casual to Semi-Competitive
- Pitchers will pitch a maximum of 3 innings per game and follow pitch smart guidelines.
- Umpires will officiate games, and scores will be kept.
- There will be no end-of-season playoffs or championships.
Team Formation: League officials will strive to create balanced teams based on spring assessments. New players to the league will be randomly assigned to teams.
Due to summertime commitments, teams may often need 'fill-in' players. These players must be registered through the league website, currently at no cost, to join any games. Rules are in place to limit, but not exclude, the use of fill-in players as pitchers. These restrictions ensure that core players have ample playing opportunities and consider the arm health of fill-in players who may not have played recently or are pitching for other local or travel teams.
See local AAA rules for more details.
