About Fall Ball

Fall Ball is the "Spring Training" of little league. Fall Ball is designed to be purely developmental while focusing on the fundamentals of batting, pitching, fielding, and base running. During the season the expectation is to have the players try new positions and learn new skills. We want to encourage the players to try and play up a division to prepare for the spring season.  It's a great time to learn new skills and try new positions.

Goals of Fall Ball...

  1. Have fun playing Baseball!
  2. Adjust to playing up in another division.
  3. Continue the learning and skill development
  4. Provide an outdoor sports option during the fall season.

FAQs

Q: Which division should my kid play in?  Coach Pitch, AA, AAA, Majors, 50/70 or Juniors?
A: Fall ball is a great opportunity to prepare for the next level of baseball. With some exceptions, your kid should sign up for the division they intend to play in the following Spring. When you register on our website, you will be limited to only a few options, possibly only one option depending on your child's league age.

Q: When is it?
A: Practices start in late August, with games starting in early September and ending in early November.

Q:  What does it cost?
A: Costs are dependent on division selected. T-Ball is $100, Coach Pitch is $125, and all other divisions are $150

Q: How is it different than the spring season?
A: Fall ball is typically more casual and more focused on instruction and learning rather than competition. We do not track wins and losses.  Coaches are encouraged to move the kids around to various positions and give everyone who wants it a chance to pitch and play key positions. It is a great opportunity to learn, and get prepared for next Spring.

Q: Where are practices?
A: Ora Mae Harn Park

Q: Where are games?
A: Home Games will be at Ora Mae.  For divisions that play 'inter-league', away games may be at other leagues parks; such as Crossroads at Silverbell or James Kreigh Park.

Q: Will there be player evaluations or a draft in the fall?
A: There are no player evaluations or a league draft. Teams will be formed by the Marana Little League Board using coach and teammate requests, as well as data from the spring to attempt to achieve competitive parity.

Q: Can I request a teammate or coach?
A: Yes, but we cannot guarantee .We will do our best to accommodate any request we can.

Q: If my kid “plays up” will he/she automatically get to play that higher level in Spring?
A: No. The level your child plays in Fall has no bearing on the level they play in Spring. They must still meet age and tryout requirements in Spring, even if they played that level in Fall.

Q: What's the difference between Fall and Spring ball?
A: Fall ball is more casual and relaxed than Spring ball and the focus is on learning rather than wins, losses and standings. If you're new to Little League, fall ball is the perfect opportunity to expose your child to Little League baseball without the competitive atmosphere of Spring baseball. In Fall ball, no standings are kept, and players are encouraged to try out new positions and generally prepare for playing up in the next division.

Q: What if my kid plays football, soccer, or other sports, or can’t make it every weekend?
A: Fall Ball is a more flexible program than Spring and many kids play two, if not three sports during the fall. If your child will make more than half the Fall Ball season, you should sign up, your manager will understand.

Q: What level should my kid sign up for?
A: Generally, kids should sign up for the division they intend to play for in the Spring.
