What Equipment or Gear will my child need?
BAT: Bats must have a USA logo on them. USSSA bats are not allowed. The bat should be, on average, the length from the center of the child's chest to the top of their fingers. A good test for the weight of the bat is to have your child hold the bat with one hand out to the side of their body. Hold the bat for 10 seconds. If their arms begin to shake, the bat is too heavy. If they are able to hold the bat straight out to their side for the full 10 seconds, the bat is most likely a good weight. The most common mistake when selecting bats is having a bat that is too heavy.
GLOVE: As kids grow differently, get the appropriate sized glove based on their hand size, not their age. First base mitts and catcher mitts are allowed. It is suggested to place your child's name on their glove.
HELMET: A child's helmet should fit snugly and not fall in front of their face. Stickers and decals are not allowed to be placed on bats. However, factory applied logos are allowed. It is suggested to place your child's name on their helmet.
PANTS: A child's pants should fit well and not be too baggy. Pants should offer proper coverage for sliding. Both long pants and knickers are allowed. Sliding shorts underneath are also an option.
FACE GUARD: All softball players should have a defensive face guard/mask.
CLEATS: Rubber molded cleats are allowed in all age divisions. Metal cleats are NOT allowed until a player is in the Junior/Senior divisions.
