The mission of Escondido Pop Warner is to provide a safe and structured environment where young athletes can thrive through participation in both flag and tackle football. Our program focuses on developing essential skills, strong values, and knowledge that will benefit our athletes throughout their lives, regardless of experience or skill level.
We welcome athletes from ages 5 to 14, and our football programs cater to all levels, from beginners to advanced players. Our flag football division is designed for the younger athletes, emphasizing fun, teamwork, and fundamental skills while fostering a love for the game. As athletes progress into tackle football, they continue to build on these skills while learning the critical aspects of the game, including strategy, teamwork, and discipline.
At Escondido Pop Warner, we prioritize education, safety, and fun. Our community is made up of dedicated volunteers, supportive parents, hardworking student-athletes, and engaged locals. We strive to develop our athletes as a team, teaching them the critical skills of teamwork, communication, leadership, and overcoming adversity. Our goal is to transform the Wolfpack into a top-notch football organization while creating lasting memories and valuable life lessons for our participants
DIVISIONS
At Escondido Pop Warner, we offer two exciting football divisions: flag football for ages 5-7 and tackle football for ages 7-14. Our goal is to place each child in the division that will best support their development and enjoyment of the game. Whether they’re new to football or have experience, we’re here to help find the right fit. If you're unsure which division would be best for your child, our dedicated staff is available to guide you and offer personalized recommendations. For a more detailed understanding of each division, please refer to our Division Matrix.
PRACTICES
Football season kicks off with practices starting on August 1st. Practices for both flag and tackle teams typically run from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm during the week, building momentum until the first game. Leading up to the first game, teams practice every weeknight. After the first game, practice schedules shift to three nights per week—Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday—allowing athletes to refine their skills and bond with their teammates. The season opener generally takes place the last Saturday of August or the first Saturday of September.
For our flag football division, practices also begin on August 1st, but with slightly shorter sessions—1.5 hours per night, three nights a week. The specific practice days will be determined by the coach. After the season begins, flag teams will practice twice a week on any of the designated practice days. First games for the flag division align with the tackle teams, typically starting around the end of August or early September.
This structured approach ensures that every player gets the right balance of skill development, team building, and fun!
