Where it began -  NYA began working with Future Academic Ballers(FAB) 7 years ago.  FAB was established as a pilot program in North Minneapolis.  The original basketball team was a fourth grade team of young men and a leader (coach)  who sought out  reform-minded families who were willing to commit to  implementing a different strategy.  

The principles which guide FAB are the following:-Each player must pay:”The FEE”

Focus (with direction from the coach), Effort (best efforts) and Energy (positive energy)

Each Player and family made the following commitments: 

• Master Key Positive Rewards Program (Weekly progress reports)

• Neighborhood Youth Academy’s Workshops

• Participation in community service and fundraising
