The ABCDD Girls Softball League was founded in 1962 by Bob and Marge Sorensen with approximately 40 girls. Now with almost 800 girls and growing, the league has become one of the largest recreational softball groups in the state. The mission of ABCDD Girls Softball is to facilitate a safe, positive learning environment in which the young ladies of Grand Island and surrounding areas can learn about, and participate in, the sport of fast pitch softball while enhancing their self-esteem, self-confidence and self-discipline.

It is our hope that years from now they carry with them wonderful memories of their participation in the program and exhibit the character traits taught: a good work ethic, dedication to realizing a goal, self-motivation, the value of teamwork and, most importantly, respect for themselves and others. All of our volunteers work to facilitate this mission. We believe our children are our most precious assets and represent the future of our community.
