Southern CT Pop Warner
Southern Connecticut Pop Warner (SCPW) is a
non-profit football and cheer league that has been in existence for over 40
years. Our league consists of 18 cities and towns from Fairfield,
Hartford and New Haven counties.
SCPW is regulated by the Pop Warner Little
Scholars® (PWLS), which is a national non-profit organization which is in its
77th year of operation with over 360,000 participants in the 42 and several
countries across the globe. Pop Warner is the largest Football and Cheer
program in the world. The mission of all Pop Warner organizations is “to enable
children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe
and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner
programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that children will use
throughout their lives”.
SCPW has an 8 game regular season, which
traditionally begins Labor Day weekend. We are divided into 2 Divisions
of play. Division 1 consists of the larger population associations and
Division 2 consists of the smaller ones. Not only do the cheerleaders support the football teams during games, but they also prepare for the annual SCPW and CT State Cheer Competition in October.
Winners and the runner-ups qualify for the New England
Regional Cheer Championship and have an opportunity to compete for the National Championship in Orlando, FL.
The executive board of SCPW is committed to
assuring all associations are treated fairly and all participants involved will
learn football and cheer, while also having fun. SCPW is responsible for
scheduling, coordinating league events, hosting clinics and verifying that all
associations are complying with the National and SCPW rules and regulations.
SCPW is always looking for opportunities to grow and will welcome new
associations who can make our league stronger. For further information,
