Philosophy
VBC (formerly VIJB) was formed to give the children in our community, an opportunity to develop basketball skills, good sportsmanship and team competition. The program emphasizes basic basketball fundamentals with the goal of creating a quality learning experience for all participants.
The VBC is a club that values diversity, inclusion and respect for all individuals. We stand with our players, families, and communities of all races, religions, genders, sexual orientations, and backgrounds. Hate and discrimination have no place in our club or our community. Together, we will continue to foster an environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.
VBC & AAU Affiliation
VBC (Vashon Basketball Club) has joined forces with the
AAU (Amateur Athletic Union). Joining AAU will provide more options for players and coaches to build their skills year-round. AAU is the premiere organization for amateur and youth sports across the country. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by VBC along with nearly 800,000 participants and over 150,000 volunteers.
Our goal at VBC is to build on this partnership and not only take advantage of current and future basketball tournaments held in Washington State, but also to plan our own AAU-approved tournament, which would bring in additional funding for our programs while helping our hometown retail business partners to grow.
