Through many years of youth sport engagement we noticed the impact we coaches had on the lives of the young people on our teams, and as these relationship began to deepen we as a cadre of coaches were exposed to these young men and women lives off the field.  Many were coming from broken homes, single parent households where positive male presence is non-existent.  Some had been through tremendous amounts of physical and psychological trauma with their only escape being on the fields of play.  Some needed academic support with subject focused attention.  So we coaches, who were deeply moved by the narratives of our players decided we needed to develop an holistic Athletic association that would provide not only championship caliber sport focused training but the necessary social-emotional support our players and so many young people need.  Thus, East Charlotte Athletic Association!!

Mission:

Our mission is to be a trauma informed athletic association intentionally creating a strategic cadre of professionals from various fields to ensure a wraparound approach of support for all student-athletes; in which to facilitate an environment of nurturing so to maximize our student athlete’s fullest potential.

Philosophy:

As an organization we understand athletics to be a catalyst for social impact and a vehicle by which life lessons can be learned.  We endeavor to support the athlete holistically through physical training, sport focused development, academic support, social-emotional well-being as well as mental health.  We understand that the most important responsibility for any coach, trainer, teacher or mentor is to have a positive impact on the pupil’s human condition, which is why we exist!
