🧒 Pre-K through 1st Grade
Teams (Co-Ed):
-Will
participate in the Little Dribblers program
Games
will be played in a 3-on-3 format
Each
team is expected to have at least 5 players
Teams
will be split into two divisions:
-
Pre-K and Kindergarten will be in a division with each team split evenly
across both grades and will play other Pre-K/Kindergarten teams.
- 1st
grade will be in a separate division and will play other 1st grade teams
🧒 2nd-3rd Grade
Teams (Boys & Girls)
·
-Will participate in the recreational program.
- If 14 or more players sign up in
a specific grade, we will split the group into two separate teams to
maintain balanced rosters and maximize playing time for everyone.
🏆 4th–6th Grade Teams
(Boys & Girls):
-If there are enough players to have 2
teams (14 or more), then we will conduct tryouts to
determine placement on Black and Orange teams.
-Your child
is not required to try out for a team unless they are wanting to play at a more
competitive level.
-The purpose of this is to prepare these kids for the
potential of playing in the competitive division which starts in 5th
grade.
-These tryouts are designed to ensure fair and balanced team
assignments based on skill level and team needs. If your child does not try
out, then they will automatically be placed on the non-competitive team.
Team
selections will be made collaboratively by:
·
-The coaching staff
-An objective third-party evaluator to ensure
impartiality
-Black teams will be formed based on skill
level and team need
· ---Orange teams will provide opportunities for
all participants to play and develop
Please Note: For 5th and 6th grade teams
- If there are only enough players for 1 team, then the coaches (with
input from the team) will make the decision whether or not to play in the
competitive level division
👥 Team Size Guidelines
-All teams will have a maximum of 10 players .
In the event that there are more than 1 team in a
specific grade, the maximum number on a team will be capped at 10 players.
-While we do our best to accommodate all interested
players, priority is given to students within the district.
Out-of-district players may be considered only if space is available, but
placement cannot be guaranteed.
Thank you for your understanding and support of our local
youth sports community. We’re looking forward to a great season!
Warm regards,
PPYSA Youth Basketball Committee
