New Britain Little League (NBLL) FAQ’S


What are the requirements to join the New Britain Little League?

Come one come all! New Britain Little League is now more inclusive than ever with the opportunity for more than just those within the town of New Britain. All in all, a willing mindset is all that is needed to participate in one the most rewarding opportunities ever.


How do I sign my child up to play on a team? 

Online or in-person registration is available. You may apply online by visiting the NBLL home page Home (bluesombrero.com) Please contact the Player Agent ([email protected]) for further information. 


What do I need to purchase for my child to play?

A pair of cleats (T-Ball/Coach Pitch optional), one pair of socks, a pair of pants (color of pants and socks will be decided by your Coach) and a baseball or softball glove. Softball divisions may require an infield face mask, please confirm with your head coaches. 


What size bat should I purchase for my child (optional)?

Beginning with the 2018 season, non-wood and laminated bats used in the Little League (Majors) and below, Intermediate (50-70) Division, Junior League divisions, and Challenger division shall bear the USA Baseball logo signifying that the bat meets the USABat – USA Baseball Youth Bat Performance Standard. 


All BPF – 1.15 bats will be prohibited beginning with the 2018 season. Additionally, starting in 2018, the bat diameter shall not exceed 2⅝ inches for these divisions of play. Bats meeting the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) standard may also be used in the Intermediate (50-70) Division and Junior League divisions. Seniors: ALL bats must be BBCOR

Bat rules vary from division to division. Confirm with your coach before making your purchase. 


Where will practices and games be held?

Practice locations are dependent upon your team Coaches. Games will be scheduled at specific fields in advance and provided before the season begins. 


T-Ball: All games/practice N.B

Coach Pitch: All games/practice N.B

Minors: All games/practice N.B

Majors: All games/practice N.B

Intermediate 50/70: Local travel for games

Juniors/Seniors: Local travel for games 

Softball: Local travel for games


How many times will practices be held each week?

T-Ball/Coach Pitch

Practices are held at least once a week based on the discretion of the Coach.


Minors Division and Up

Practices are held 2-3 days per week based on the discretion of the Coach. 


How many times each week will games take place?

T-ball/Coach Pitch

Games will be played one day per week.


Minors Division and Up

Games may be played 2-3 days per week 


What times are practices held?

Practice times are provided to parents via email or by way of a group text method option to keep you informed of every practice as well as cancellations. Typically, practices take place between the hours of 6pm until 8p.


Will my child play every game?

All players will absolutely receive an opportunity to have field time at least once every game. Exceptional athletic skills or the winning of games is secondary to the growth and confidence of all players. Standard Little League International mandatory play rules are in effect. 


Who do I contact if my child cannot make it to the game or practice?

In any case you are running late or your child must miss a practice or game be sure to reach out to your designated Coach directly via call or text. We want to ensure all of our youth are actively participating and accounted for throughout the season.


When will the season begin and end?

Outdoor team practices will start on 4/1 pending weather and field conditions. Opening day will take place on April 22nd. Season ends by June 16th


How do I get involved as a volunteer coach or assistant?

In order to become a volunteer in any capacity you must be at least 16 years of age and pass a background check. Once this is completed you will be informed of your status to discuss the current volunteer options available to you.


How can I support the league further?

While we do have several fundraisers throughout the year to increase donations, awareness and support for the League there can never be enough to further the impact of the New Britain Little League for our youth.
