Children need at least sixty minutes of
exercise each day. While organized sports give the benefits of physical
health like exercise, they also improve one's psychological and social
well-being. Being part of a sports team teaches children how to trust
and include others in their lives. Organized sports boost self-esteem
and courage, encourage healthy habits, foster the building of strong
friendships, teach respect, help develop a strong work ethic, and teach
perseverance. Studies have shown that children who get into the habit of
eating right and exercising are likely to continue these healthy habits
as an adult, making these benefits last a lifetime.
The Newbury Joint Recreation Board's programs are open to all residents in the community looking to participate and have fun.
