Harney Little League Rapid City, SD

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, COMMITMENT, AND VOLUNTEERISM!

Parents,

Managers and Coaches are key to the development of our players, the success of our program and the health of Harney Little League.  If you are considering volunteering for the upcoming season, we thank you for stepping up to take on the most critical volunteer role in our league.

You may be nervous or unsure if this is right for you.  Don't let this prevent you from making a valuable impact on children!  We have invested in a Training & Development program to help you be the best coach you can be for every player on your team.  Read on to learn more.

Good luck and have a fantastic season!

Regards,
Harney Board of Directors

Manager/Coach Training

For all Harney Team Managers and Roster Coaches

Experiences Harney LL coaches create for children is the #1 reason players return to play baseball each season. Those experiences are also the most common reason players decide not to return to the game of baseball.  As such, Harney Board members feel strongly there is great advantage to providing training and development to volunteers who express a desire to manage or coach.  If you are a first-time coach or a seasoned veteran in the game there still is room to learn and grow!

Harney Little League has invested in the Training and Development of our managers and coaches by purchasing Big Al’s online Coaching Program!  Big Al has designed a Coaching program to help you from the start of a Little League season to the finish.

The program is split into two age groups, Ages 4 - 8 years and 9 - 12 years and provides learning videos which help you:

Teach players with varied skill and experience levels within the same practice
Create a high energy, engaging and fun practice with varied drills
Identify and correct common mistakes in player technique
Gain confidence in your ability to create positive and lasting experiences for kids

Even better, there are ready-to-go practice plans for pre-season, during the season and to help prepare for post season!

You will also find a STRATEGY section that describes positional play and roles and responsibilities of players in real game situations.  This section includes tips and plans to help you be even more effective as a coach on game day.

As Managers and Coaches are confirmed for the upcoming season, they will be provided login instructions to access Big Al Baseball.  If you would like a sneak peek of the program visit www.bigalbaseball.com.

Coach Tools

As a Manager or Coach you should be focused on player development.  This is why Harney strongly recommends you take time to secure a Team Parent to help with  many key activities.  Things like pitch count tracking, score bookkeeping, organizing team schedules are a few examples.  Also, there are some great technology tools available today to make volunteer jobs for parents even easier.

To help we have consolidated some resources you can access just to the right under "HELPFUL LINKS".  This will help you help drive parent support and your team's success all season long!

If you know of additional resources and would like to have them added to the Harney website please email us with detail.
