Hello Parents and Players,

Welcome back to a new CYO season of basketball. The registration process consists of a series of program questions that are required for you to complete. Unanswered program questions is considered an incomplete registration.

This year we are processing our registration through Blue Sombrero, a program offered by Sports Connect. The process has different requirements than in the past, as all paper is uploaded and payment is by credit card.  

First, please create an account. Second, you will have to enter your child’s information as a participant. When you’ve entered your child’s information, the registration program will become available for OLR CYO Sports. After you click on the Program Available button, it will take you to the next page where you can complete your registration. Please click on "View Description" and carefully read the Program Description information before you continue. 

Included in the registration process for you to read and complete are:

-Parental Permission, Health Authorization, and Release and Waiver*

-COVID Policies for Participation in CYO Sports Liability Waiver*

-Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy Agreement

-CYO Concussion Information Sheet

-Volunteer Opportunities

-Uniform Order

-Registration Fees 

*In addition to completing the Parental Permission, Health Authorization, and Release and Waiver & COVID Policies for Participation in CYO Sports Liability Waiver forms during the registration process, the Oakland Diocese requires that this form be present at all CYO activities. Therefore, we need you to print out this form, complete it, and hand it to your coach during the first practice. Your child cannot participate in practice without this form being completed. A player has to play where they are eligible. Eligibility in CYO is established in one of two ways:

(1) If the child is in religious education at the parish, both this year and last year, they can play for that parish.

(2) If the child and parents live in parish boundaries, they can play for that parish. 

If we cannot place your player, we will refund your registration and uniform fees (minus credit card handling fee).  

FOR FAITH FORMATION AND BOUNDARY PLAYERS, YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF THE PLAYERS BIRTH CERTIFICATE. NOT INCLUDING THIS DOCUMENT IS AN INCOMPLETE REGISTRATION. 

FOR BOUNDARY PLAYERS, YOU MUST SUBMIT PROOF OF RESIDENCE AND A MAP SHOWING YOUR RESIDENCE IN OUR BOUNDARIES. NOT INCLUDING THESE 2 DOCUMENTS IS AN INCOMPLETE REGISTRATION.

PLEASE NOTE that Sports Connect, the website that is processing our registration will be charging a $3 transaction fee. For example, if the registration fee is $245, you will be charged $248 in total.

In order for this program to be successful, we need participation of parents. The coaches and team parents who volunteer countless hours each year are not the only ones responsible for the success of the program. Each family who signs up their child to play CYO sports must make a commitment to the program. This commitment includes volunteering time whenever it is needed as well as getting your child to practices and games consistently and on time. Coaches understand that occasionally a game or practice will be missed due to illnesses or unexpected events. Please contact the coach as early as possible, but no later than two (2) hours before practice/game, to let them know your child will not participate. What is not acceptable is when a child repeatedly misses games or practices without a good reason such as injury, illness or special family occasion. Other weekly activities such as other sports, etc. do not count as excused absences. This is detrimental to both the player and their team. The coaches will be instructed to keep track of repeated unexcused absences and be allowed to reduce the player’s playing time in games if necessary. Our program has many children on the waiting list each year, and we want to make sure that the child’s playing are totally committed to this program. The coaches will explain their individual policies to you at the first parent meeting after the teams are organized. 

Participation in CYO sports requires flexibility. Practices are scheduled according to [1] gym availability (which is not always consistent) and [2] coach’s availability. We do try to get a consistent practice schedule, but request and appreciate your patience and flexibility. Games will be on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays and may be held in Fremont, Hayward or Union City.
