Programs & History

Glens Falls Boys Youth Lacrosse is a Rec Program which began in the spring of 2008. The program offers lacrosse instruction for boys in grades 1-6 with an emphasis on individual skill development and team play. Our main season runs from March/April to June. Registration opens February 1st. We also offer other opportunities throughout the year. Such as pick up box lacrosse games one night a week at the Glens Falls Rec Hockey Rink behind the YMCA from July - August. A brief FallBall Lacrosse season (consisting of 3-4 practices and 1 tournament) is offered from October - November.

During the spring season GF Boys Lacrosse has four teams offering different levels of instruction. All of our teams travel and compete against other regional teams from the Adirondack Youth Lacrosse League. No matter your age or lacrosse experience it's never too late to join. Our four teams consist of:

Kindergarten-2nd grade (Scouts): In 2015 we started a 1st and 2nd grade team that wore full equipment and played games with other regional teams. The emphasis at this level is learning lacrosse basics, passing, catching, and ground balls. This year (2023), kindergarteners are invited to register for the Scouts. Practices are tentatively scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. Several Saturday games are already scheduled (typically during the morning hours) and number of midweek games are already being planned (these would likely be held as an alternative to practice the respective week). Practice and local games are typically held at the City of Glens Falls' fields next to the YMCA.

3rd-4th (Warriors): At this level, our program focuses on skills and strategies associated with boys lacrosse. Games are 7 v 7 on smaller fields. Practices and games are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings on the back field at Crandall Park.

5th-6th (Chiefs): Players at this level will move to a full-sized field and regulation 10 v 10 games. Practices and games are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 9:00 a.m. at Murray Street Park in Glens Falls.

7th-8th: Please note that this level of play is a modified program with Glens Falls City School District. The modified program is new for spring 2018.

* As our youth organization requires 100% participation in US Lacrosse, all players and volunteers are required to become US Lacrosse members before joining Glens Falls Lacrosse. In order to sign up go to the registration link on this site.

Feel free to use the Contacts page to direct any additional questions you may have regarding Glens Falls Lacrosse. We look forward to working with you and your children to develop their skills and grow the game of lacrosse.

For older boys the Glens Falls School District offers the following Lacrosse opportunities:

7th-8th: The modified program is new for spring 2018. Kevin Donlon is the head coach.

Junior Varsity - This full high school program is generally made up of players from grades 9 and 10. This team will practice every weekday and some Saturdays and will play a full 16 game Foothills Council schedule.

Varsity - For our most accomplished players, this full varsity program will play a complete 16 game Foothills Council schedule and compete in NY State Section 2 Sectional play. Practices will be each weekday and some Saturdays beginning in March.

Note: Both teams at the high school level will have games scheduled over the school scheduled spring break. Players who commit to playing lacrosse at the high school level are expected to be available for games and practices over spring break.
