The
CALUMET CITY THUNDERBOLTS Youth Football
and Cheer program is a non-for-profit organization whose primary
purpose is to assist in nurturing society’s values in our youth
through competitive sports. The benefits offered serve not only
the children, but also the communities in which they live and play.
These benefits include self-esteem, pride, a good educational base,
strong work ethics, self-motivation, self-reliance, sportsmanship
and parent-child relationship strengthening.
We
strive to teach youth in this program morals and values, which are
essential to success in life. This includes how to work as a team
to reach a productive goal. Our kids learn the true meaning of sportsmanship.
In our program, coaches and parents teach the kids how to rejoice
in victory, but also maintain a positive attitude through hardship
and loss. This is taught not only throughout the season, but also
via outside tournaments and competitions.
Our
organization also looks to help keep children active and fit through
exercise and discipline. With childhood obesity on the rise in this
country, the Thunderbolts teach children how to exercise effectively
and teach healthy eating habits.
