Election of MSA Board Members

In May of each year, the Board takes nominations from the Board of Directors and General Membership to fill those positions up for election. Elections will be conducted in June following nominations from the Board of Directors and General Membership and installed at the July meeting. Elected members will serve for a two-year term. The positions up for election in 2023 are President, Treasurer, Registrar, Director Youth Soccer League, and Strategic Planning 1, and Strategic Planning 3.

The Board will also take nominations for those positions that are not up for election this year but are currently vacant. The vacant positions are Vice-President, Director of Coach, Player & Referee Development and Concessions Coordinator.

President - The President shall direct the committees and Board and shall act as the presiding officer at all meetings of the Board of Directors/General Membership.  The President shall be responsible for conducting the business of MSA, for making rules which interpret policy of the Board of Directors, for coordinating the activities of the MSA, for general administration, and for other duties as the Board of Directors may approve or direct.

Vice President - The VP will assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President.  He/She shall work with the President in planning and directing meetings and other projects as needed. The 1st VP does need to serve a minimum of one year on the board to be next in line for being President.

Treasurer - The Treasurer shall oversee the collection of all dues and fees, shall have charge of all monies, issue bills and receipts for dues and fees, and pay all bills of the MSA.  The Treasurer shall keep a detailed record of income and expenditures, and submit a written, detailed monthly report to the Board of Directors and a written general report at each general membership meeting that is held each season.

Registrar - The Registrar will be responsible for registering players and teams with the Mitchell Soccer Association, US Club and US Youth, collect medical related forms, complete team rosters and player cards notifying the MSA Board of any eligibility disputes, help coaches complete tournament registration forms (if needed), and be in charge of risk management (background checks through the state).

Director of Coach, Player, & Referee Development – The Director of Coach, Player, and Referee Development shall be responsible for coordinating and helping coaches improve and lending support to their practices when needed; assisting players to improve their skills and develop a program to evaluate players and their ability, thus working with coaches to help with player development; keep track of coach licensure and communicate ongoing education opportunities available to coaches. Will work to coordinate setting up referee certification and development programs.

Director of Youth Soccer League - The Director of the Youth Soccer League is responsible for organizing and running the YSL, non-competitive soccer league, including team formation, schedules, etc. The Director is responsible for bringing up any issues with coaches or players that need to be discussed at the MSA board meeting. The Director is responsible for updating player, coach and parent conduct forms as needed.

Concessions Coordinator - The Concession Coordinator is responsible for ordering food and working with the committee to coordinate setting up workers for the concession stand.  The chairperson must report to the board regarding purchases for the concessions, purchase food and non-food items for the stand, and submit a bill to the treasurer. 

Strategic Planning - The three Strategic Planning members (1, 2, & 3) are responsible for helping the Board document and establish long-term goals and the action plans needed to reach them. They will do this by assessing both where the Association is and where it is going. They will provide assistance to the appointed committees helping them with their assigned duties.
