Accomplishments_

2017 and In progress work

  • -Contributed funds to assist with replacing the Woodville batting cage
  • -Replaced perimeter fencing around Woodville diamonds #1 and #2
  • -Purchased both a softball and baseball pitching machines for the new batting cage in Woodville (A donation in memory of Gary Zajac helped to purchase these machines)

Past Work (2014-2017)

  • -Add new stone and regraded the Woodville ball diamonds with assistance from Athletic Booster
  • -Built new fenced in dugouts with concrete pads in Elmore and purchased tarp for over the dugouts for both Woodville and Elmore diamonds
  • -Moved Elmore batting cage near diamond #2, reinforced poles, and added concrete pads
  • -Worked with the Village of Elmore to add an addition to the shed next to the batting cage for equipment storage
  • -Purchased a Duel Purpose JUGGS Pitching Machine with synthetic baseballs and softballs for use by all Woodmore teams at the Elmore batting cage
  • -Replaced backstops on Woodville diamonds #1 and #2 with assistance from Woodmore Select Baseball
  • -Purchase equipment and materials for diamond prep, maintenance, and practice equipment for WYO use
  • -Completed water control grading on Elmore diamonds #2 and #3
  • -Updated Woodville concession stand with electrical upgrades, new roof, replaced rotting wood and trim, installed a new ventilation system, and added new registers with assistance from the school and Woodmore Select Baseball
  • -Replaced all old batting helmets with new ones and purchased new softball equipment
  • -Updated Woodville diamond electrical issues
  • -Replace Woodville dugout tarps with metal roof
  • -Built 4 bleacher awning for Woodville diamonds #1 and #2; awnings painted with donated paint from the school and Lowe's in Perrysburg
  • -Received an in-kind donation of 3 brand new scoreboards as they replaced and installed them on Woodville diamonds #1 and #2; Diamond #4 to be installed before Spring

Future Considerations

  • -Look into putting in a 5th diamond in Woodville

Did you know…

  • -More than 200 Woodmore kids played ball on 19 WYO teams in 2014, around 150 on 13 WYO teams in 2015, and approximately 166 kids playing for 16 teams in 2016
  • -WYO garnered the support of team sponsors since 2014 to present, to help defray uniform and league fee costs
  • -Team sponsorship funding allowed the WYO to decrease registration costs by $20 per player since 2014.
  • -Leading up to 2014, the annual reverse raffle raised nearly $9,000, as these funds have been be used to run the organization daily needs each year and for future capital improvements; In 2016 and 2017 the ticket raffle raised between $5,000 and $6,000
  • -The WYO pays the utility bill for the entire season at the Elmore and Woodville diamond complexes
  • -The oldest team in each division receives an dri fit type shirt for playing their final year with the WYO
  • -The raffle fundraiser helps cover all expenses for this group to operate to try to keep registration costs down as much as possible
  • -We welcome people willing to assist in diamond prep, the concession stand, umpires, coaches, or become an officer or board member
  • -Has successfully worked with the Elmore Village Council, Village Street Department, Village Park Board, Woodmore School Board, School Maintenance Department, Woodmore Alumni Group, Woodmore Select Baseball, Gibsonburg Baseball Program, Lake Baseball Program, and the Ohio Cardinals Baseball Team
  • -Between Elmore and Woodville there are 6 diamonds that accommodate an average of 16 WYO teams and 3 Woodmore Travel teams for the season and that a volunteer from this group coordinates the diamond calendar for all
  • -Both Baseball and Softball umpires are required to attend an umpire clinic held by a certified umpire prior to the season for each league and that Softball Umpires are certified thru the ASA
