SPRING 2025 SEASON


WELCOME TO THE HOBOKEN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL (HLL) - SPRING 2025 REGISTRATION 

REGISTRATION: JANUARY 15th - FEBRUARY 10th

REGISTRATION FEES (PAID DIRECTLY ON BLUE SOMBRERO):
  • Residents: $55
  • Non-residents who attend school in Hoboken: $75
  • Participants who receive FREE/REDUCED lunch: NO FEES - Qualified participants can use the coupon code when checking out; the code can be redeemed on the registration website

REGISTRATION GUIDELINES:
  • Participants should register for ONE DIVISION (ONLY)
  • Select the preferred division that corresponds with age eligibility
  • HLL will adjust placements as needed AFTER the tryout period/team formation concludes

ONLINE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Register with BLUE SOMBRERO to join the Little League Charter
  2. Enroll on TEAMSNAP (TS) to join the league-wide management; Players AND volunteers must complete this step regardless of prior enrollment on TS last year or use with other sports - Online Link to TeamSnap: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/464232

AVAILABLE BASEBALL PROGRAMS (AGES 7 - 16):

COACH PITCH
BASEBALL LEAGUE AGE: 7 YEARS OLD (DOB: 9/1/2017 - 8/31/18)
NO TRYOUT REQUIRED / REGISTRATION ONLY
This is an instructional program, with no prior experience required, designed for new players and those who are transitioning from tee-ball interested in learning the game, and ready to hit from live pitching. Coaches pitch to players, non-hard balls.
 
MINOR JUNIORS 
BASEBALL LEAGUE AGE: 8 YEARS OLD (DOB: 9/1/15 - 8/31/17)
NO TRYOUT REQUIRED / REGISTRATION ONLY 
This is a transitional program intended to develop the fundamentals of baseball and prepare players for the more advanced "player pitch" divisions. Players will learn to pitch/hit in a safe environment (non-hard balls)

MINOR LEAGUE 
BASEBALL LEAGUE AGES: 8 - 12 YEARS OLD (DOB: 9/1/12 - 8/31/17)
TRYOUT IS ONLY REQUIRED FOR NEW & RETURNING/"RISING" PLAYERS WHO ARE NOT ALREADY PLACED ON A MINOR LEAGUE TEAM 
This program focuses on “player pitch” and prepares players for advanced play in the Major League. Hard baseballs will be used. Limited roster spots are available. Players (aged 8 - 9) who are not drafted to a team will be placed in the Minor Juniors.

MAJOR LEAGUE 
BASEBALL LEAGUE AGES: 9 - 12 YEARS OLD (DOB: 9/1/12 - 8/31/16)
TRYOUT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW & "RISING" PLAYERS NOT ALREADY PLACED ON A MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM 
This advanced program is designed for players who are ready to face the highest level of competitive play in our league with faster pitching and live hitting (hard baseballs). Limited roster spots are available. Players who are not drafted to a team will be placed in the Minor League.

JUNIOR LEAGUE: BASEBALL LEAGUE AGES: 13-14 YEARS OLD (DOB: 9/1/10 - 8/31/12)
Transitional program following the Major League and prepares players for the high school level. Games will be played on the 60/90 field and may require travel (TBD). Programs will be organized according to enrollment data/numbers - TBD. Participants must follow the same registration procedure as other youth baseball programs .
 
SENIOR LEAGUE: BASEBALL LEAGUE AGES: 15-16 YEARS OLD (DOB: 9/1/08 - 8/31/10)
The Senior League (Sr) contains high school-aged players, competitive play on the 60/90 field, and typically requires travel. Team often competes against other local towns. All participants must follow the same registration procedure as other youth baseball programs. 


COACH PITCH & “MINOR JUNIORS” TEAM FORMATION:
  • Participants DO NOT attend a tryout session and are NOT part of the draft process
  • Players will be automatically placed onto teams AFTER team placement in the older divisions has been finalized (MARCH - TBD)
  • Rosters/additional information for these divisions will be shared/published in LATE MARCH (TBD)


TRYOUT/EVALUATIONS (MINOR & MAJOR LEAGUE ONLY):
  • Required for all NEW and "RISING" participants who would like to join either the MINOR or MAJOR LEAGUE
  • A tryout session is NOT required for Coach Pitch, Minor Juniors, OR those returning to play on their former team (2024 spring season)
  • NEW & RETURNING/"RISING" players interested in joining the MINOR or MAJOR LEAGUE are REQUIRED to complete an ONLINE TRYOUT FORM in addition to the registration requirements
  • Players aged 10+ who are NOT already placed in the MAJOR LEAGUE must attend a tryout session for that division

HELPFUL INFORMATION WHEN COMPLETING THE ONLINE TRYOUT FORM:

  • Complete ONE FORM for ONE SESSION in ONE DIVISION (Minors OR Majors)

  • Participants who complete the tryout form will receive a confirmation with their scheduled session AFTER the registration process concludes - INFORMATION WILL NOT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW COMPLETION OF THE SIGN-UP FORM

  • Returning players who plan to remain in the same division should NOT attend a tryout session and will automatically be placed on their former team from the spring 2024 AFTER registration is completed; FULL REGISTRATION IS STILL REQUIRED FOR RETURNING PARTICIPANTS

  • There will be a different team formation process for the Junior/Senior League (ages 13-16); additional information will be provided after registration concludes
 

VOLUNTEERING:
Completing the registration process DOES NOT guarantee a volunteer/coaching position; positions are granted on an “as-needed” basis. The following coaching positions may be available: TEAM MANAGER/HEAD COACH OR ASSISTANT COACH

Team Manager/Head Coach:
The position entails leading a team, providing weekly communication, organizing/running practices, and completing ALL duties as a “head coach” at the games (e.g, assigning field positions, formulating and submitting batting line-ups, keeping a scorebook, and leading the team)

Assistant Coach:
The position entails assisting the team manager/head coach with practices and games as instructed/needed 

If you are interested in volunteering, you must complete the following process:

  • Online registration w/”Blue Sombrero” under "VOLUNTEER NAME"

  • Mandatory background check provided by HLL; an email will follow with instructions after team assignments have been determined. It may take extended time for the background check to be released to each volunteer. Upon receipt, follow instructions accordingly.

  • Complete the mandatory online course (Adult Awareness for Adults) @USABDevelops.com

  • Submit the certificate upon completion of the abuse course directly onto the Blue Sombrero account OR send it directly to: [email protected].
