Calabasas Cheetahs Cross Country & Track and Field

Parent's Our Heros!

Parent Participation

Many responsibilities exist beyond the normal team level commitments that help the Calabasas Cheetahs Running Club function smoothly. Parent participation is what makes the program a quality experience for all our children. Our Team can only be as good as we, the parents, make it.  Volunteer when and wherever you can and show your child what real teamwork is all about!

Parent Support

Parent support during both meets and practices is critically important to the success of the Cheetahs and our conference  Be supportive of the team by ensuring your child attends each practice on-time.  Be a positive role model during practices and meets whether you are a parent volunteer, assistant coach, or simply a spectator.  Finally, please keep the following in mind:
  • Always be positive and enthusiastic.
  • Show your child positive reinforcement.
  • Observe practices and meets to learn proper techniques to assist your child.
  • Encourage your child toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every practice and meet.
  • Make sure your child is well rested, properly hydrated, lightly fed and has all the proper equipment/snacks/sunscreen etc. for practices and meets.
  • Teach your child that hard work and an honest effort are often more important than a victory.
  • Applaud good runs by your team and by members of the opposing team.
  • Let the coaches do the coaching. Only volunteers and athletes are allowed on the field at any time.
  • Be your child's best cheerleader, children are hard enough on themselves, they really need you to be their support system.

Volunteer Hours - Refunds

Our team is responsible for purchasing all equipment we use throughout the season, rental of the school field, insurance, advertising, outreach, meets, timing, redcoats, food, medals, PR bands, uniforms and more! A lot of effort and money goes into bringing this amazing resource to your child!

Every athlete's parent is expected to volunteer a minimum of 8 logged meets duty hours to support the club in any of the available areas. Once your volunteer hours are met you may request a refund of the $50 volunteer payment. However, many of our parents generously allow the team to retain this fee. Thank You!

Do you have a skill or a resource you'd like to share with the team please let us know!
If you require a discount for need please let us know!

Confidential scholarships are available for families who have need. We also employ a discount for early sign-ups and we offer scholarships to volunteers teens who have run with the Cheetahs to apply towards  college. Practice Information

Welcome to the Calabasas Cheetahs! -
Whether your child has prior running experience or none at all the beginning of the season is an exciting time as they build endurance, speed, learn about various field events and their coaches work individually with each athlete to help them meet their most successful personal bests!

Weather is changeable by the hour during night practices. A balmy evening may turn frigidly cold. Always prepare your child with layers, and a cozy sweatshirt left in the gear bag (CheetahSpiritWear) Water bottle, an energy bar, even sunscreen are staples. Running shoes are a must. We recommend a running store for purchase and Cheetahs get a 10% discount at Future Track Running Center.

Check the Cheetah Calendar to check our times and locations for Practices and Meets!

CHEETAH CALENDAR

Age Divisions:
Gremlins Ages 5-8

Intermediate Ages 15-16

Gremlin parents are required to stay during the entire duration of practice, no dropoffs.

If your child is in another age division and you choose to drop off please arrive 30 minutes before the projected end of practice so your child and their coach are not waiting for you and meet your child at the exit of the field.

This year we are using a new website that offers group texting abilities so if there is a change your coach will be able to text or email you with schedule changes etc.

Still, have questions? We love answering them, please get in touch!
