Tom has been coaching girls volleyball and managing volleyball clubs for 17 years. As a club manager he founded and managed the "Orion Stars", he was also the Age Group Coordinator for the largest site of the biggest club in Michigan. As a coach Tom is currently the Varsity Coach at Troy High School (Class A, Division 1) and the 8th grade coach at Smith Middle School. As a club coach he has coached at every level from U12-U18. In 2016 Tom was honored as the Troy Schools Middle School Coach of the Year, in 2017 he received the M.I.V.C.A. Region #16 Middle School Coach of the Year. Tom is well known as a dedicated, compassionate, skilled and poetic supporter of Girls Volleyball.

Dominic Yoder

Dominic Yoder comes to High Performance Volleyball Academy after serving as a successful NCAA Division II Head Volleyball Coach for the past 12 seasons and has 21 years of women’s volleyball experience at the NCAA, NJCAA, MHSAA, USAV levels as well as a collegiate official.

Yoder had successful tenures at Cameron University, Northern Michigan University and University of Wisconsin-Parkside. In his first season with Cameron University, his team compiled a 25-4 record and led the Aggies to a Lone Star Conference North Division championship.  Yoder was named the North Division Coach of the Year in 2006. Yoder spent 10 seasons at Northern Michigan University that included three NCAA Tournament appearances. He compiled an overall record of 191-117 pacing him 2nd all-time in overall wins at NMU and first all-time in NMU Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wins with a record of 121-56. He led his Wildcat teams to six 20-win seasons and nine straight GLIAC Tournament appearances. Northern Michigan advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2010 under his leadership. Also successful in the classroom, the Wildcats have been honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award for nine-straight years under Yoders leadership. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Yoder concluded his most recent collegiate first year season with University of Wisconsin-Parkside, leading the Rangers to a 13-17 overall record to go along with an 8-10 record in the GLVC. At the end of his season, Yoder saw senior Lexi Turek make the All-GLVC team and surpass 1,000 career kills. The season also saw success for captain setter Katie Adams securing 1,000 assists and captain libero Annie Leo with 1,000 digs.

Yoder has also spent time as a collegiate assistant coach at Michigan Tech (2004-05), Albion College (2002), Ferris State University (2000) and Kalamazoo Valley Community College (1997).

Before the beginning of the 2014 season, he was selected to be on the NCAA Volleyball Rules Committee that changed the landscape of volleyball by initiating the inaugural replay system.

Yoder began his head coaching career as the girls’ volleyball coach at Battle Creek Central High School for four seasons (2000-04). He led his 2004 squad to a 54-13 overall record with a conference and district championships. For his efforts, he was named the Michigan High School Athletic Association Region 12 Coach of the Year. His first three squads at Battle Creek Central were 8-32, 29-25 and 34-19.

Yoder founded and spent two years (2002-04) as the director and volleyball coach of the Team Deer Volleyball Club. Prior to establishing Team Deer, Yoder coached on the club level for 6 seasons.

Yoder earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics from Western Michigan in 1998 and earned his Master of Arts in Physical Education degree from Western Michigan in 2010.

Yoder and his two children, Lilah and Levi, reside in Michigan.
