Frank A Coelho

Hector Padilla
Head Coach - 2009 Girls - Premier team
Coach Hector, born and raised in Oakdale, CA, played as a Defender for Oakdale High from 2005–2009, helping win two CIF Section Championships. He later coached the boys varsity team (2013–2017), earning three VOL Championships and a State Cup title with Oakdale Youth Soccer.
Currently, he's the Head Coach of the 2009 Girls Premier team at Oakdale Soccer Club. Since 2021, he’s brought leadership, dedication, and a strong coaching foundation—holding US Club Soccer Grassroots licenses and a referee certification.
A husband and father of three, Hector lives by the motto: “Enjoy every minute of your life... Heaven is forever.” As a passionate Liverpool fan and advocate for amputee sports, he proudly lives out: “You’ll never walk alone.”

Sebastian DeSales
Head Coach – 2012 Girls - Gold Team
Originally from Santa Barbara, CA, Sebastian has been involved in soccer since age 8—playing for Santa Barbara Soccer Club and as a four-year varsity goalkeeper at Santa Barbara High.
With 24 years of coaching experience, including time at Modesto Ajax United, Oakdale Youth Soccer League, Oakdale Soccer Club, and Oakdale High School, he was honored as District VIII and California State Coach of the Year in 2015 by Cal North.
He currently leads the Oakdale Soccer Club 2012 Girls team and holds E and D coaching licenses through the California Youth Soccer Association.

Richard Woods
Head Coach – 2015 Girls - Silver
Born and raised in Oakdale, CA, Richard is a U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran who served two tours in Iraq before returning home to start a family.
He began coaching in 2021 and currently leads the Oakdale Soccer Club’s 2012, 2014, and 2015 girls competitive teams. His coaching philosophy centers on building GRIT—the determination and resilience to overcome obstacles and reach team goals.
Richard believes youth sports build character, confidence, and a strong sense of teamwork—valuable lessons that prepare kids for life.
Richard holds multiple US Club Soccer grassroots licenses (4v4–11v11) and plans to pursue his D license. He’s married with three children, all of whom he has coached in Oakdale Soccer Club’s competitive program. Here are some of Coach Richards recent accolades-

Frank Coelho
Director of Competitive
Head Coach - 2016 Girls - Silver
Favorite Quote: “I'm forever blowing bubbles.”
Raised in Oakdale, CA, Frank discovered his love for soccer at age 9, playing competitively for Ajax United. He was a Forward for Johansen High (2001–2005), the Cal North ODP team, and a Super Y League national finalist. He later played at CSU Stanislaus (2005–2008), as well as for USL’s semi-pro team California Gold, and adult league clubs Academica SC and Acoreano SC.
Frank began coaching as an Assistant Coach for Modesto Junior College (2009–2011), later working with U6–U10 players in Oakdale Soccer Club’s recreational program. In 2024, he transitioned to the competitive side and now serves as Head Coach for the 2016 Girls and Assistant Coach for the 2018 Girls.
He currently holds multiple US Club Soccer Grassroots licenses, a U.S. Soccer D License, and is actively pursuing his U.S. Soccer C License. He also holds a referee license and has previously served as OSC’s Referee Manager (2022–2023) and Registrar (2023–2024).
Frank is married with three children—two of his daughters currently play in OSC’s competitive program.

Jose Meza
Head Coach - 2017 Girls - Gold
Assistant Coach - 2018 Boys - Bronze
Raised in Ceres, CA, Jose spent eight years playing competitive soccer as a goalkeeper for the Turlock Tornados in the Central California Athletic League. He earned All-League honors as a midfielder while playing varsity for Ceres High School (2008–2009), spent a year with the NorCal Olympic Development Program, and made guest appearances for various regional teams. His playing accomplishments include a US Club Soccer National Cup regional championship.
Jose brings eight years of indoor and outdoor coaching experience across multiple Central Valley organizations. Over the past three years, he has coached U6 and U8 girls in Oakdale Soccer Club’s recreational program and transitioned to the competitive side in Spring 2024. He currently serves as Head Coach for the 2017 Girls and the 2018/2019 Boys teams, and as Assistant Coach for the 2016 Girls.
He holds multiple US Club Soccer Grassroots licenses, a U.S. Soccer D License, and a Futsal Coaching License. He is also a state-certified instructor with over 100 hours of instructional development training.
Jose is married with three children—all of whom he has coached in both the recreational and competitive programs at OSC.

Jelenko Popovic
Head Coach - 2016 Boys- Bronze
Assistant Coach – 2014 Girls- Bronze
Social Media Manager
Born and raised in Zajecar, Serbia, Jelenko fell in love with soccer at age 6 watching Red Star Belgrade. By 9, he was training as a defensive midfielder with FC Timok, competing in Serbia’s 4-tier youth league. After moving to the U.S., he continued playing in adult leagues and has spent the past five years with the MYSA-Ajax co-ed team.
Jelenko began coaching with Oakdale Soccer Club in 2021, working with U6 and U8 teams in the recreational program. In Spring 2024, he transitioned to the competitive program and currently serves as Head Coach for the 2016 Boys and Assistant Coach for the 2014 Girls. He also volunteers as the U6 and U8 Divisions Coordinator for the OSC Board.
He holds multiple US Club Soccer grassroots licenses (7v7, 9v9, 11v11) and plans to help launch the 2016/17 Boys team in Spring 2025. Jelenko is married with two children, both active in OSC’s recreational and competitive programs.
Melissa Popovic
Head Coach – 2014 Girls - Bronze
Assistant Coach - 2016 Boys - Bronze
Raised in Oakdale, CA, Melissa played center midfield and forward for Oakdale High School (1999–2001) and later for Modesto Junior College before focusing on academics at CSU Stanislaus. She continued playing recreationally on various women’s and co-ed teams, both indoor and outdoor.
Melissa began coaching in 2021 as an Assistant Coach in Oakdale Soccer Club’s recreational program. After three years with the U6 and U8 divisions, she moved to the competitive program in Spring 2024 and now serves as Head Coach for the 2014 Girls team. She has also held the Uniforms, Pictures, and Awards Coordinator (UPAC) role, and is currently the clubs Registrar.
She currently holds multiple US Club Soccer grassroots licenses (7v7, 9v9, 11v11) and plans to pursue her U.S. Soccer D License.
Melissa is married with two children—one playing recreationally and one in OSC’s competitive program.
Andrew Cortez
Head Coach- 2018 Girls- Bronze
Coach Andrew Cortez is the Head Coach of Oakdale Soccer Club’s 2018 and 2019 Girls teams. Before joining the competitive program, he spent several years coaching in OSC’s recreational league, developing young players and sharing his love for the game.
Andrew’s playing background includes years of competitive club soccer and high school soccer, where he built a strong foundation in the sport. His experience as both a player and coach helps him create a positive, skill-focused environment for his teams.
He is committed to continuing his coaching education and supporting the growth of youth soccer in Oakdale.
Ramon Lopez
Head Coach- 2009 Boys- Gold
Coach Ramon Lopez, a lifelong soccer enthusiast from Riverbank, CA, brings years of experience and passion to Oakdale Soccer Club. A proud alumnus of Riverbank High School, Ramon grew up playing in the Oakdale Youth Soccer League and has remained active in the game ever since.
With a strong background in coaching boys' programs, Ramon specializes in goalkeeper development and has mentored players across various age groups. His deep understanding of the game, combined with a no-nonsense, player-first approach, brings a level of experience that earns immediate respect—especially from our older boys teams.
At 52 years old, Ramon continues to play the game he loves and lead by example on and off the field.
He is also a proud father of three, and his dedication to youth soccer extends into his own family through the players he’s helped develop.
Rene Santos
Head Coach- 2017 Boys-Bronze
Coach Rene Santos is the Head Coach of Oakdale Soccer Club’s 2017 Boys team. A passionate and experienced leader, Rene brings both high-level playing and coaching experience to the OSC community.
Originally from Oakdale, CA, Rene played collegiate soccer at Azusa Pacific University. After his playing career, he went on to coach at several respected programs, including as an Assistant Coach at Azusa Pacific and with the Santa Anita Seals Soccer Club, where he worked with U10, U12, and U14 age groups.
Rene coaches to give back—to both the game and the community that shaped him. His approach emphasizes character, discipline, and development both on and off the field.
In addition to coaching, Rene also serves as a pastor in Oakdale, where he continues to invest in the lives of local youth and families.
Dale Sequeira
Head Coach- 2013 Girls- Bronze
Coach Dale Sequeira is the Head Coach of Oakdale Soccer Club’s 2013 Girls team. Originally from Modesto, CA, Dale brings a wealth of experience and energy to the OSC coaching staff.
He has coached across multiple youth soccer organizations including Dublin United, MYSA Ajax, and the Turlock and Manteca Youth Soccer Leagues. Over the years, Dale has worked with U10, U12, and U14 age groups, developing players at every level with a focus on growth, effort, and passion for the game.
Dale holds U.S. Soccer E, F, and ED licenses, and is committed to continuing his coaching development. He brings a high level of enthusiasm to every session and is excited to expand playing opportunities for young athletes in Oakdale through OSC.

The Oakdale Soccer Club is always looking for coaches to expand our competitive program!
Our competitive program is molded by the mantra “for the love of the game” and we are looking for coaches who love and respect
the game of soccer.
Oakdale SC competitive program is a year-round program, and competitive coaches have the freedom to create their practice schedules, and game/tournament schedules and locations. Online coaches training, licensure, and resources available through the US Soccer Learning Center. Our teams compete in Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Premier. Coaches Training and Stipends options available depending on experience.
