Volunteers

All Jr Eagles Basketball head coaches and assistant coaches are required to have their clearances up to date (within 5 years) and submitted to the league president prior to the start of the season.

Which clearances are needed?
All prospective volunteers must obtain the following clearances:
1. Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); and
2. Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse).

Additionally, a fingerprint based federal criminal history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is required if the volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years.

How do I obtain my clearances?
The Child Abuse, PSP and FBI clearances can all be applied and paid for electronically. The FBI clearance also requires a fingerprint submission. Remember, you do not need fingerprints if you have been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for the past 10 years.

FEES
Child Abuse clearance fees for volunteers are waived one time within a five-year period.

There is no charge for the Criminal History Record Check for the purpose of volunteering.

There is a fee for the FBI fingerprints. If you are required to get fingerprints, use the link listed above, scroll down to FBI Criminal Background Check Instructions. You will need to pre-register prior to getting fingerprinted. Use the Service Code associated with "DHS Volunteer".

SUMMARY
If you have been a continuous resident of PA for the past 10 years, you only need to obtain a Child Abuse Clearance and a Report of your Criminal History.
