AAA is an instructional league to develop early skills, learn the basics of the game and have fun. Throughout the season our coaches instruct to bat utilizing a tee and progress to 'coach pitch'. The goal of the AAA division is to prepare our ball players for the Minors division.
Preseason Expectations:
· Beginning in April (as weather permits) Coaches should hold 1-2 practices a week with the focus on introduction of players & coaches, work on simple fundamentals, rules / positional assignments and general familiarization of a t
· Coaches should also take the preseason as an opportunity to introduce themselves to the players parents and set expectations for the upcoming season. Focus on general philosophy / rules of AAA, high level outline of the season schedule and field general questions & answer.
In Season Expectations:
· Coaches in AAA play an active role during games while the team’s are fielding & batting.
o Fielding:
§ Keep the girls attention on the game itself (safety)
§ Rotation of players into all positions between innings
§ In game coaching on where to play the ball for “outs” (NOTE: in AAA there are no outs – each child bats each inning and the last batter clears the bases)
o Batting:
§ At the beginning of the season (can be changed at coaches discretion based on player readiness) - Innings 1-2 are off a tee and from inning 3 forward coaches pitch to each player
§ Base running for AAA is very simple – each child
