Player Evaluations: Minors and Majors Divisions

All players in Minor and Major Divisions need to stop by one of the sessions below, including coaches' children and returning players.   Evaluations help ensure that our teams are as balanced and fair as possible.

What Will the Evaluations Be Like? How is this information used?

Evaluations will give an approximate measurement of a player's maturity in multiple areas including baserunning, fielding grounders, throwing, fielding fly balls, hitting (off the tee), and (where it applies) pitching.   Our volunteers will evaluate every player and record scores.  These scores will be shared with the coaches during the draft.  Scores are completely confidential and will not be shared with players, parents, or anyone else.

When are Evaluations?

Please attend the session based on players last name.
If your family includes multiple players with different last names, they may all attend together in any one of the relevant sessions.

Arrive ANYTIME during your assigned time slot.

Players will quickly rotate through each of several stations.  Evaluation is about 10 minutes to complete. You do not need to be there the entire time slot.  Do not wear cleats.  Please bring a glove (bats are optional).

What if I can't attend?

If you are unable to attend one of the sessions, or needs to attend at a different time than their alphabetically assigned slot, please reach out to [email protected] or on Facebook messenger (DeMotte Little League) and we will schedule an alternative session.

If your player is required to attend an evaluation session and you choose not to, and don't contact us, your player will be assigned a team randomly instead of being part of the draft. A coach cannot select your player.  Skipping evaluations does not mean that a coach who "knows you" or your coach from last year will benefit.

What about Teeball, PeeWee and Junior Division Players?

TeeBall or PeeWee players do NOT need to participate in these evaluation sessions.

Juniors players should watch for a communication in early March about possible evaluations. Do not attend these sessions.
