The Smithfield Packers Youth Sports program is looking for local business community support. Our organization has been serving the local area for more than twenty years. We provide safe, structured, recreation at no taxpayer expense, for more than one hundred fifty boys and girls in our community.
Our program keeps participants physically fit and teaches them important lessons about teamwork, perseverance; we also encourage academic achievement, and sportsmanship. All donations go into our general fund to sponsor lower income and high-risk kids and to replenish football equipment, cheer uniforms, referee fees, facility use, and pay liability insurance fees.
We would like to invite you to become (or renew being) a sponsor, helping a positive and rewarding program.
This past season our 6U blue flag football squad were the PYFCO Super Bowl Champions while the 14U football team finished second place in the PYFCO Super Bowl.
Smithfield Packers Youth Sports is gearing up for the 2023 Season featuring Spring and Fall cheerleading, football, and track and is looking to continued growth across all of our athletic offerings. Between the Spring and Fall seasons, registration increased from 180 to 206 athletes (with a 88% increase in cheerleaders [from 36/Spring to 68/Fall], and a 16% increase in football players [from 119/Spring to 138/Fall]. Track had their inaugural season with 25 participants.
Each football division is encouraged by a cheerleading squad that parallels the age and ability of the football team. We are on pace to field 4 football teams and 4 cheerleading squads this season; averaging 24-28 players per team and 10-20 per squad. Coaches hold the athletes to the highest standards of character and integrity. The Conference holds the athletes responsible for academics and citizenship.
The parents are responsible to pay a registration fee and encourage each athlete by being at practice on time and prepared and at each game. The athletes are responsible to work their hardest to be a healthy and productive member of the family, the team, the school, and the community. There are no paid positions. All members of the Board, Coaches, and every individual that it takes to create a successful season volunteer time. The financial burden of equipping and providing this sport in Isle of Wight County and surrounding Counties is substantial. You are a part of such a great community.
