Minor League Softball
Ages:
· 7 – 8
· 9-10
Ages 7/8
About This Level:
· The objective of the Minor Division Program is to develop and refine throwing and catching skills for greater distance and accuracy.
· They should learn batting skills and develop a better understanding of base running.
· Fielding skills should begin to develop, along with the knowledge of where to throw a fielded ball.
· Players should learn how to skillfully play the defensive positions and to listen and follow the directions of their coaches.
· This is a “Coach Pitch” level; meaning that the coach of each team pitches to their players during the game.
Schedule:
· Team information: you will be contacted by your child’s coach via email, phone call or text.
· Games: a schedule will be provided to you by your coach
· Practices: set by the Coaches.
· The League attempts to avoid Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday practice or game play
What to Expect:
· Each team must have a scorekeeper, umpire and a scoreboard operator
- Parents are asked to volunteer for these positions
· Kids are expected to be on the field 15-30 mins before game time
· Your child's abilities will determine defensive position played as part of the league safety awareness

About This Level:

· Players start learning to pitch
· They should improve on their batting skills and learn a better understanding of base running.
· Fielding skills should improve along with the knowledge of where to throw a fielded ball.
· Players should learn how to skillfully play the defensive positions and to listen and follow the directions of their coaches.

· Team information: you will be contacted by your child’s coach via email, phone call or text.
· Games: will be posted on our calendar and sent to you via your Coach
· Practices: set by the Coaches
· The League attempts to avoid Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday practice or game play
What to Expect:
· At the 11-12 level the players have developed timing and physical ability for gameplay. Pitching is faster and batting requires heightened focus and timing.
· With all sports physical development is a factor in determining ability. It is the coach’s job to ensure your child's safety and in doing so determining the best positions for the children to play. Infield play is fast and requires a defensive glove to ensure safety of the player. The coach will evaluate every player and determine their ability to defend themselves at all positions.
