Facilities & Logistics Notes
All practices, for all levels, are held in the Delsea HS wrestling room, unless indicated otherwise. 

We try to maintain regular schedules throughout the season. However, from time to time, our normal practice schedules may overlap with High School sanctioned events. In these cases, High School functions take precedence. Your coaches will make decisions on schedules and notify ahead of time, as possible. 

Schedules subject to change around holidays as well. Please maintain contact with your coaches. 

Wrestlers should enter the building by the “Athletics” entrance (south end) and navigate to the rear of the building. The practice room is located just beyond the main gymnasium and boys locker room.

Parents/Guardians are responsible for transportation. 


Tots (4-6)
Tots practice 2x weekly, typically on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Practices last 1 hour (start time typically 630pm).

Bantams (7-8)
Bantams practice 2x weekly, usually M/W from 630-730pm, with an optional practice on Thursdays 730-845pm. 

Midgets (9-10)
Midgets practice 3x weekly, usually M/W/R. Practices last 1 hour 15 minutes (tyically 730-845pm).

Juniors/Intermediates/MS 
Juniors, intermediates and middle school wrestlers practice combined, typically 5 days per week (M-F). This is subject to change, as weekday matches are possible. Practices typically follow the High School practice and last 75-90 minutes. Start time is typically 5pm. 

Regular Season Roll-Arounds
We participate in the South Jersey Wrestling League (SJWL), which consists of about 20 teams. Through the course of the season, we will travel to a member school and compete against 2-3 other member schools, per event. 

Wrestlers weights are recorded at practice and our coaches work with opposing organizations to matchup wrestlers of like weight and age. The goal is to get all wrestlers at least two (2) matches per event. Some may get lucky and wrestle up to three (3) matches at a single event. Others may have limited opposition, in which case we try to find comparable opponents and get our kids the most mat time possible.

USANJ Wrestling State Tournament (Unattached)
This tournament, including any qualifying tournaments associated with the progression of the overall tournament,  is not an officially sanctioned series of events for Delsea Junior Wrestling or the SJWL. 

However, we encourage our wrestlers to qualify and compete if so inclined. Additional registrations, beyond the Delsea Junior Wrestling registration, will be required to participate. Typically, many of our coaches are involved in the tournaments and are willing to assist and coach, where possible. 

If interested, please discuss with the head coach of your division, to make arrangements or to seek advice. 

Additional Details
In 2023 all of the Kids age groups (Tot, Bantam, Novice, Junior and Intermediate) will compete in nine (9) Regional qualifiers between January and March of 2023. Each of the Qualifiers will be hosted by a USA Wrestling approved club and are typically held in a high school gym. The season culminates in a weekend full of State Championship matches in early to mid-March of 2023. The Cadets (boys only) and Girls (only) divisions do not have qualifying tournaments but can wrestle in the state finals that same weekend at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton.
