2023 Spring Season FAQ's

* All volunteers who will be spending time on the field during practices or game or in the snack bar MUST complete a background check, child abuse mandated reporter training, SCA training and concussion training. The background and trainings are done at no cost to the volunteer. The trainings can be completed online and found within our 'Volunteer Information' Tab. *

 

  • Season Begins: 03/11 and Ends 06/23
  • Baseball divisions we offer: T-ball, Coach Pitch, Farm, Minor, Major, Intermediate and Juniors.
  • T-ball Division: 4-5 Year Olds. Entry level co-ed division. Teams are made up of no more than 10 players. Bats and balls used are specific to this division (Y-balls and T-bats). Only a batting Tee shall be used the entire season.  Little leaguers are required to play at least 1 year of T-ball before moving on to coach pitch. Non-competitive play.
  • Coach Pitch Division: 5-6 Year Olds.  A 5-year-old may participate in this division if they have participated in one year of T-Ball, at the discretion of the player agent and safety officer. Non-competitive play.  Teams should have no less than 8 players and no more than 10. Coaches deliver up to 4 pitches for the player to attempt to hit; if the ball has not been successfully hit into play a batting tee shall be placed on home plate for the player to use.  Co-ed
  • Farm Division: 7-8 Year Olds. Competitive play. Official scorekeeper is required (home team to provide). Teams should have no less than 10 players and no more than 12.  A batting tee is not used. Players pitch to players. Hard balls are used all season. Tryouts required.  Co-ed
  • Minor Division: 9-10 Year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 10 players and no more than 12 players. Players pitch to players. Hard balls are used all season. Official scorekeeper is required (home team to provide). Tryouts required.  (Play teams from other leagues) Co-ed
  • Major Division: 11-12 Year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 12 players. Scorekeeper required (home team to provide). Player pitches to player. Hard balls used all season.  Tryouts required.  (Play teams from other leagues)
  • Intermediate Division: 13 Year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 12 players. Scorekeeper required (home team to provide). Player pitches to player. Hard balls used all season.  Tryouts required. May participate in District 51 Interleague (play teams from other leagues) Co-ed
  • Junior Division: 13–15-year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 12 players and no more than 15. Scorekeeper required (home team to provide). Player pitches to player. Hard balls used all season.  Tryouts required. May participate in District 51 Interleague (play teams from other leagues). Co-ed
  • Challenger Division: 4-18 Year Olds. Non- Competitive play. Adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical or intellectual challenges. Co-ed. Challenger teams play teams from the other divisions (Farm- Juniors).
  • Softball Divisions we offer: Minor, Major and Juniors. 
  • Minor Softball: 8–10-year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 10 players and no more than 12 players. Players pitch to players. 11" softballs are used all season. Official scorekeeper is required (home team to provide). Tryouts required. May participate in District 51 Interleague (Play teams from other leagues) 
  • Major Softball:11-12 Year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 10 players and no more than 12 players. Players pitch to players. 12" softballs are used all season. Official scorekeeper is required (home team to provide). Tryouts required. May participate in District 51 Interleague (Play teams from other leagues) 
  • Junior Softball: 13–14-year Olds. Competitive play. Teams should have no less than 10 players and no more than 12 players. Players pitch to players. 12" softballs are used all season. Official scorekeeper is required (home team to provide). Tryouts required. May participate in District 51 Interleague (Play teams from other leagues) 
  • Umpires: Each team is responsible for providing an umpire for as many games as they are the home team. Though they should not umpire for their own team or division. For example. a major team is scheduled to play 16 games, 8 of which they are the home team. They will need to provide an umpire for 8 games, for another division (minor, juniors, softball). The league will provide an umpire clinic. The league will create an umpire signup. Umpires are non-paid volunteers. Parents not coaching, scorekeeping, or team parent should volunteer to umpire at least one game.
  • Scorekeeper: Each team is to provide an official scorekeeper for each of their home games. The league provides scorebooks and training.
  • Team Parent: Create team game snack schedule, snack bar schedule, attends annual team parent meeting held before the new season starts, disseminates information from the league to the parents. 
  • Coaches/Managers: Drafts players for competitive teams, creates practice schedules, leads the team practices, creates lineup for games, maintains league provided equipment, helps to ensure a safe and fun environment for the players.
  • Assistant Coaches: Help the manager with practice, games, can step in as Head Coach when Manager cannot attend a game. 
  • Snack Bar Duty: Each team will be assigned a time slot to provide parent volunteers to work in the snack bar for a short time period. For example, a team could be assigned snack bar duty for 4 hours on a Saturday. The team shall provide parents to volunteer their time in the snack bar for those 4 hours. Team can divide the 4 hours however they choose, with a different parent volunteering every hour, or every 30 minutes or the whole 4 hours. 
  • Refunds: The leagues refund policy is voted on every year and included in the league's bylaws. The current policy can be found within the 2023 Refund Policy Tab. 
  • Games: T-Ball and Coach Pitch games are played on Saturdays. All other divisions are played during the week as well as Saturdays. NO games on Sunday. 
  • Practices: Are at the discretion of the coach.
  • Players can play up or down a division with the player agent and safety officers' consent or suggestion.

  • Uniform: WLLL provides a jersey and hat or visor.  Parents will need to provide pants, cleats, socks, belts and cup.
  • Equipment: WLLL provides helmets, catching equipment, Batting Tee, First Aid Kits. We do have some gloves and bats. Please reach out to your coach or a board member if you need equipment. 
  • We are a 100 % non-profit organization and players do not have to pay to play. If you cannot afford the registration fee's please reach out to our league treasurer. Your situation will remain private, and accommodations will be made. E-mail: [email protected]
