Description of FPLL Divisions

Single-A - T- Ball (4-6 years old) Introduction to Baseball:
If a player is league age 4, they must play Single-A for two years. If a player is league age five and has never played baseball, they must play Single-A for two years or have coach/parent/board approval to move to AA. A six-year-old player who has never played baseball must play Single A unless size or baseball skill warrants placement in the AA Division or at the board's discretion. While at practices, Managers and Coaches will develop the players' abilities to hit off of a tee and against pitching by the Manager/Coach. Games are played with coaches pitching the ball and using the tee when needed.

AA - Machine Pitch/Coach Pitch (6-8 years old):
This division is for six- and 7-year-olds who have played one year in the Single-A Division and already have developed baseball skills or are board approved. 8-year-old players will be eligible to try out for AAA. They can be "drafted" based on an evaluation completed by the Player Agent. The focus for AA remains on the fun of playing baseball. Coaching will be focused on fielding, making plays, accurate throwing, proper hitting technique, and preparing the player for player pitch at the "AAA" level.

AAA - Intro to Competitive Play – Player Pitch (8 –12 years old):
A player's ability will be evaluated at an FPLL-approved evaluation to be drafted in this division. 10-year-olds who did not attend an evaluation will be placed on a team in this division. For an 8-year-old to be considered for AAA, that player must have played FPLL AA the previous year. Players must be evaluated at an FPLL-approved evaluation. 10, 11, and 12-year-olds who were evaluated will be eligible for being drafted up to Majors if a roster spot opens up. 11 and 12-year-olds can play AAA with a safety waiver. "AAA" includes player pitch, scoring, and umpiring. By the end of their time in this division, players are expected to have refined their skills so they may successfully participate at the "Major" division level.

Majors - Advanced Competitive Division (9-12 years old):
A player's ability will be evaluated at an FPLL-approved tryout to be drafted in this division. Players are selected on teams based on a draft. All players, eligible by age, will be available to be drafted. 11 and 12-year-olds who were not evaluated at an FPLL-approved tryout will be randomly drawn by a manager and placed on that team. Within this more competitive environment, the emphasis remains on improving baseball skills, building individual self-esteem, promoting team camaraderie, and emphasizing fair play.

9-year old's will be eligible for the Majors Division Draft if they have met the following conditions:

1) It has been verified that they have played one or more years of AAA.

2) participated in an FPLL-approved tryout and was approved by the Independent Evaluation Committee.

3) have the consent of their parent and/or legal guardian.

Intermediate Division - 50/70 (11-13 years-old):
This division is a competitive division designed for 13-year-old players. Players will play on a modified baseball field using a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. Players will be introduced to leading off, pick-offs, and other baseball rules. One team will be selected from the available pool of players through a draft based on player evaluations. This division will play inter-league and inter-district based on availability.

Challenger - For Youth with Physical and/or Mental Disabilities (6–12 years old):
The Little League Challenger Program is Little League's adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges. Players will be teamed with a "Buddy" who will assist the player during the game. Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. If an individual can participate in the traditional Little League Baseball program with reasonable accommodations, they should do so. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4-18 or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school.

**For T-Ball and AA divisions, Managers may submit a team (or partial team) of players they would like to coach. FPLL will consider all player and coach requests when forming teams but can not guarantee all requests can be honored.**
