Player Placement & Drafts

Sitka Little League will strictly follow the Little League age chart for all divisions of play. There will be no movement to a different age division. We want all kids to have the best experience possible while looking out for the safety of all involved. Divisions that follow the draft policy will abide by the policy and teams posted are final.

Tee Ball

Tee Ball is for boys and girls 4-6 years old who want to be introduced and learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. In Tee Ball, players spend a portion of their season hitting a ball off a batting tee. Rules of the game are designed to accommodate the need for teaching. As a non-competitive Division, the primary goals of Tee Ball are to instruct children in the fundamentals of the game, to allow them to experience the value of teamwork and give them the opportunity to play the game.

Please note that if your child is Little League age 6, you may choose Tee Ball or AAA which is coach/machine pitch. If this is your child's first introduction to the game, they may prefer Tee Ball.  Final decision must be made prior to team formations. No changes will be made after. You must be registered in the right division.

A / AA / AAA Softball

Minors A/ AA/ AAA Softball leagues can be broken up into 3 different divisions depending on skills and ages registered.  This is for girls 6-9 years old who are starting player pitch but also hitting off a coach or machine pitched ball. They are continuing to build on the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. Rules of the game are designed to accommodate the need for teaching. As a non-competitive division, the primary goals are to instruct children in the fundamentals of softball, to allow them to experience the value of teamwork and give them the opportunity to play the game.

Please note that if your child is Little League age 8, you may choose to register and attend skills evaluations for highest level of Minors Softball, which is full player pitch. Final decision must be made prior to skills evaluations. No changes will be made after. You must be registered in the right division.

A / AA / AAA Baseball

A/ AA/ AAA Baseball is for boys and girls 6-8 years old can be broken up into 3 different divisions depending on skills and ages registered. Some may began player pitch but are also hitting off a coach or machine pitched ball. They are continuing to build on the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. Rules of the game are designed to accommodate the need for teaching. As a non-competitive division, the primary goals are to instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball, to allow them to experience the value of teamwork and give them the opportunity to play the game.

Please note that if your child is Little League age 8, you may choose to register and attend skills evaluations for the highest level of Minors Baseball, which is full player pitch. Final decision must be made prior to skills evaluations. No changes will be made after. You must be registered in the right division.

Minors Softball

Minors Softball is for girls 9-11 years old who are continuing to develop their abilities in a competitive softball environment. As a competitive division, the primary goals of Minors Softball are to create a fair and balanced teams by holding a draft. This is the first age that is played with a player pitching in games. This division provides the team and individual skills development needed to prepare the players for Majors Softball. Scores are kept for these games. Umpires found the teams officiate the game to best of their abilities.  

Please note that due to softball number varying every year divisions could shift players up or down so that divisions have at least 2 teams. Final placement will be based on final registration numbers, skills evaluations and drafts.

Players in Minors Softball can sign up for 8-10 Special Games which are played in July. Signing up does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Minors Baseball

Minors Baseball is for boys and girls 9-11 years old who are continuing to develop their abilities in a competitive baseball environment. As a competitive division, the primary goals of Minors Baseball are to create a fair and balanced teams by holding a draft. This is the first age that is played with a player pitching in games. This division provides the team and individual skills development needed to prepare the players for Majors Baseball. Scores are kept for these games. Umpires found the teams officiate the game to best of their abilities.  

Please note that if your child is Little League age 11 you may choose to register for minors or majors.  Some players may be more comfortable playing as the elder of their division or some may be looking to "play up" to a higher level. Final placement will be based on final registration numbers, skills evaluations and drafts.

Players in Minors Baseball can sign up for 8-10 Special Games which are played in July. Signing up does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Majors Softball

Majors Softball is for girls 11-12 years old who are continuing to play competitive softball by refining all the skills they have been building in the minor divisions. As a competitive division, the primary goals of Majors Softball are to create a fair and balanced teams by holding a draft. Scores are kept for these games. Umpires are provided by the league at this age.

Please note that due to softball number varying every year divisions could shift players up or down so that divisions have at least 2 teams. Final placement will be based on final registration numbers, skills evaluations and drafts.

Players in Majors Softball can sign up for All-Stars which are played in July. Signing up adds you to a ballot and voting takes place at the end of the regular season. Signing up does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Majors Baseball

Majors Baseball is for boys and girls 10-12 years old who are continuing to play competitive baseball by refining all the skills they have been building in the minor divisions. All 12 year olds must be placed in this division only and priority goes to this age.  As a competitive division, the primary goals of Minors Softball is to create a fair and balanced teams by holding a draft. Scores are kept for these games. Umpires are provided by the league at this age. The season ends with a tournament. 

Please note that spots are limited in this division and priority will be given to older players. Final placement will be based on final registration numbers, skills evaluations and drafts.

Players in Majors Baseball can sign up for All-Stars which are played in July. Signing up adds you to a ballot and voting takes place at the end of the regular season. Signing up does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Juniors Softball

Juniors Softball is for girls 13-14 years old who are continuing to play competitive softball by refining all the skills they have been building in the minors and majors divisions. As a competitive division, the primary goals of Juniors Softball are to create a fair and balanced teams by holding a draft. Scores are kept for these games. Umpires are provided by the league at this age.

Please note that due to softball number varying every year divisions could shift players up or down so that divisions have at least 2 teams. Final placement will be based on final registration numbers, skills evaluations and drafts.

Players in Juniors Softball can sign up for All-Stars which are played in July. Signing up adds you to a ballot and voting takes place at the end of the regular season. Signing up does not guarantee a spot on the team.

Junior /Senior Baseball

Junior League Baseball is for boys and girls 13-16 years old who are honing their abilities at the highest levels of Little League competition. As a competitive division, the primary goals of Juniors Baseball are to create fair and balanced teams by holding a draft. This division prepares players for the next level. Rosters are typically, more than 12 players. Scores are kept for these games. Umpires are provided by the league at this age. The season ends with a tournament. 

This division allows Senior Division age players to register as well. Final placement will be based on final registration numbers, skills evaluations and drafts.

Players in Juniors Baseball (Age 13-14) can sign up for All-Stars which are played in July. Signing up adds you to a ballot and voting takes place at the end of the regular season. Signing up does not guarantee a spot on the team.
