50/70 refers to the distance of the pitcher’s mound (50’)
and base path (70’). It was created to
make the transition to 13 year old baseball, easier for players. Prior to this year, 13 year olds moved
directly in to Babe Ruth which plays on standard 60/90 fields. This is a significant jump from the current
46/60 dimensions and has proven to be a difficult transition for most players.
50/70 has additional benefits as it raises the level of play
by implementing rules of 60/90 baseball.
Base runners will be permitted to lead off, attempt stealing any time, and
head first sliding is permitted.
Softball (6-8 years) - Our softball program focuses on developing and preparing girls to play in the Hasbrouck Heights Recreation travel softball program. Girls will be taught positional play and how to pitch; they will face coach pitch for most (if not all) of the season. 7 and 8 year olds are eligible for selection to a "Tournament Team" that will continue post season play. All 8yr old girls will be invited to participate in the Hasbrouck Heights Softball Tournament.
