Coaching Requirements

Anyone interested in becoming a coach, must complete the following: (THIS APPLIES TO ALL SPORTS)

1. Complete the Rutgers SAFETY Program https://youthsports.rutgers.edu/educational-courses/schedule
2. Complete the Online Concussion Training Program https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html
3. Submit to the Fingerprint background check. Please visit the following link to get the PDF. The PDF will have the website to visit to schedule your fingerprint appointment. There is currently a 4 day wait to get an appointment. The PDF will also have information they you need to enter onto your form when you schedule your appointment. You must also pay for the fingerprint check online prior to going for your appointment. (YOU CAN NOT PAY AT THE SITE) Please keep your receipt and bring to LIZ MORRIS at the EMERSON BORO HALL, if you wish to be reimbursed.

This fingerprint requirement applies to everyone, regardless of your occupation and even if you have been fingerprinted in 2018 for all other purposes. Everyone must be fingerprinted in 2019. Once you have been fingerprinted in 2019, it is my understanding you will not have to be fingerprinted again. The Borough has retained a service that will conduct annual checks if you wish to continue to volunteer coach. Here is a copy of the background check ordinance that was adopted in 2018.
