By taking this free, online course and using what you learn, you will be well positioned to improve the culture of concussion. Your actions
can help create a safe environment for young athletes so that they can stay healthy, active, and thrive – both on and off the playing field.
Take the course
HERE 3. Submit to the fingerprint background check
The Borough of Emerson requires all volunteers for any programs sponsored by the Borough and having contact with persons under the
age of 18 years must submit to a background check. This ordinance was UPDATED in 2018 and the fingerprint requirement applies to
everyone, regardless of your occupation and even if you were fingerprinted in 2018 for any other purpose. Everyone must be fingerprinted
in 2019. Once you have been fingerprinted in 2019 you will not have to be fingerprinted again. The Borough has retained a service that
will conduct annual checks if you wish to continue to volunteer coach. You can read the Recreation Commission's letter HERE. We have created step by step instructions below to make it easier for all of our volunteers to get this done smoothly.
A. Download the fingerprint form HERE. Once you print the form, fill out boxes 9-26. You MUST bring this form, as well as an acceptable form of ID, with you when you get fingerprinted.
B. Make an appointment to get fingerprinted HERE. Fill out the online form EXACTLY as you filled out the form you printed out.
C. Once you have scheduled your appointment to be fingerprinted, go HERE to authorize the town to perform the background check.
D. The Emerson Recreation Commission will be issuing ID cards upon completion of your successful background check. The background check takes 2-3 weeks to complete. You will receive an email notifying you that your background check is complete. To obtain the ID card you need to e-mail a picture of yourself (from the chest up) in jpg format, to [email protected]. Arrangements will be made by the Recreation Commission to get the card to you.
E. If you wish to be reimbursed for the cost of fingerprinting, you can bring your receipt to Lauren Roehrer, Finance Dept, at Borough Hall or e-mail it to her at [email protected]
4. Take the Bloodborne Pathogen Course
Take the course HERE. When it asks for Company, Department, or Division, put Emerson Rec Softball. When it asks for a supervisor, put Mike Carcich.
