Emerson Softball Programs Overview
Emerson Spring Recreational Softball
Our recreational softball program focuses on fun and learning of the game, and is offered to all Emerson girls in Pre-K thru 8th grade. The program runs from the beginning of April until mid-June. Kids are assigned to each division based on their current grade.
It is expected that EVERYONE will communicate with the head coach 2 days prior to missing a game so coaches can borrow players from another rec teams to prevent a forfeit. It is also expected that players, when asked to play for another team, will help out other teams on a frequent basis. This is the only way to have teams with 10-12 rostered girls which is ideal for playing time and development. Players will follow all Kinderkamack Softball Recreational Rules & Regulations during the spring season.

Additional Emerson Softball Programs
In addition to Spring Recreational Softball, Emerson softball also offers Summer Travel Teams, Fall Rec and/or Travel teams, in addition to Winter Workouts. Players will follow all Kinderkamack Softball Summer Travel or Rec Rules and Regulations depending on the program.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summer Season - Emerson Travel Softball
- Available ONLY to players that played Spring Recreational softball in 1st - 8th grade the season prior. There will be tryouts & cuts up to the discretion of the director at that level. The summer season runs from mid-June through July 31st.
- Players who are also involved with other sports/extracurricular activities (Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Dance, etc.) are also able to sign-up for Travel softball but must make Emerson Summer Travel priority over other sports the majority of the time. If not, it diminishes the competitiveness of the Travel team and is stealing a roster sport from someone else that was cut and would be playing the entire time. It is expected that EVERYONE will communicate with the head coach 2 days prior to missing a game so coaches can plan accordingly.
- Games are played against teams from surrounding towns. Scheduling typically consists of 2-3 evenings per week including weekends.
- Players will follow all Kinderkamack Summer Softball Travel Rules and Regulations during the season.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fall Season - Emerson Rec Softball w/ Travel Options (discretion of the coach)
- Available ONLY to players that have played Spring Rec softball in 1st-7th grade the season prior.
- Each level will get one weekday for practices or games on the Emerson Varsity Softball Field. Games or practices can also be scheduled on the weekends up to the discretion of the coach and field availability. The season will run during September & October.
- It is expected that EVERYONE will communicate with the head coach 2 days prior to missing a game so coaches can plan accordingly.
- Coaches may offer any combination of practices, Rec intersquads, and/or Rec games vs other towns to everyone that signed up. Rec intersquads & games will be equal playing time for all. In addition, coaches may offer some Travel games for girls that made the Summer Travel roster the season prior. Coaches may ask other fall girls that didn’t make the Summer Travel roster the season prior to fill in for a travel fall game and bring 13 girls max. Playing time is not equal, but any girl that attends a game will play at least 2 innings in the field and get 1 at bat.
- The number of Rec games plus intersquads MUST be equal to or greater than the number of Travel games though. Games are played against teams from surrounding towns.

Winter Season - Emerson Softball Clinics
- This program is open to anyone in 2nd - 8th grade even if they have never played Spring.
- The winter clinics will consist of 7 practices in January, February, & March at the Emerson HS gym. Indoor practice sessions will run around 75 min depending on how many groups we have.
- Emerson Softball Board Members & High School Softball players will volunteer to help coach the winter workouts.
