League City Little League

Spring 2024 Information

***IMPORTANT** - An athletes league age is calculated based on their age as of 8/31/2024. Spring  Registrations will use the 2024 Little League Baseball Age Chart for Divisional Splits. Little League International bases everything off league not birth age. Please know your players league age when attempting to register.  Additionally, you will be required to include your player’s hat size, jersey size and pant size.  Lastly, you will be asked to provide three jersey numbers that are a favorite for your player.  It is very important that you provide us with that information when registering.  Although we will have a uniform fitting at the evaluations, you will have to log back into your player's profile and update that information, if applicable.  The divisional breakdown will briefly explain each division to help you gauge where your player is from a skills standpoint.  In some instances, we may consider adjusting a player's division based on their skill level however that decision will be made after the evaluations and we will consult with the family.

The Spring 2024 Little League season will have a focus on instruction and practice time but will be balanced out with competitive game play. The season will run from the week of January 13th, ending May 20th.  The tournament at the end of the season is also weather dependent.

Should you have any other questions or concerns between now and evaluations, please reach out to LCLL through our league mailbox at [email protected] or through our Facebook page.

LCLL Divisional Breakdown

Spring 2024 Divisions:  (These divisions are different than the Fall so please do not base where your player should play in the Spring based on the Fall)

a. Intermediate (13u) – The Intermediate division, 50/70 Kid-Pitch, introduces an advanced level of Little League play to League City Little League and is more consistent with traditional baseball. This level provides players a gap year before transitioning to more advanced levels of play on larger fields. The Intermediate division is highly-competitive and is comprised of eligible players ages 13 to 11 who were registered prior to try-outs and were drafted to a team.  For the Spring 2024 season this division will have try-outs for interested players.  All interested players will be waitlisted at registration and invited to a must attend tryout.  At the tryouts players will be assessed, and a ranking will be associated with each player.  We are going to try to have 4 teams this season which means only the top ranked players will be offered a spot.  For example: assuming we have 4 teams of 12 and each manager has 3 lockins, the highest ranked 36 kids will be offered a spot in the division.  For those league age 11 and 12, that do not receive an invite, they will have the option to play in another division assuming there is still availability. * Important, due to field size, we do not currently offer any other division for league age 13 players so if they do not make a team, we do not have any other options for them to play in LCLL this Spring.  We are working to obtain some field space to fill this void but it will take time.

b. Majors (12u) – The Majors division is the oldest and most experienced 46/60 Kid-Pitch division in League City Little League and is the pinnacle of a players’ Little League career. The Majors division is competitive and is comprised of eligible players ages 12 to 10 who were registered prior to evaluations and were drafted to a team.  Only the most advanced league age 10’s should consider this division.  The top half of the 11’s and all 12’s should play in this division.

c. Triple A (11U) – The Triple A (AAA) division is the penultimate Kid-Pitch division in League City Little League and is comprised of eligible players ages 11 to 9 who were registered prior to evaluations and were drafted to a team. The AAA division is a combination of competition and instruction for players and is a stepping stone to Majors.  .  Only the most advanced league age 9’s should consider this division.  The top half of the 10’s and all 11’s should play in this division.

d. Double A (10U) – The Double A (AA) division is the introductory, educational, and instructional Kid-Pitch division in League City Little League and is comprised of eligible players ages 10 to 8 who were registered prior to evaluations and were drafted to a team. The AA division is instructional for all players with a heavy focus on learning the basics of pitching and batting off of kid pitchers.  All league age 9’s are encouraged to play here along with those 10’s learning to pitch.

e. Single A (8U) – The Single A division is the most experienced Machine Pitch division in League City Little League and is a competitive division comprised of eligible players ages 8 to 7 who were registered prior to evaluations and were drafted to a team.  The league age 7’s with a higher baseball IQ and all 8’s should register in this division.

f. Rookie (7U) – The Rookie division is the introductory, educational, and instructional Machine-Pitch division in League City Little League and is comprised of eligible players ages 7 to 6 who were registered prior to evaluations and were drafted to a team. The Rookie division is instructional for all players with a heavy focus on learning the basics of fielding, throwing, and batting off of a machine. Players that have previously played in Coach Pitch and those league age 7’s that are still earning should play here.

g. Coach Pitch (6U) – The Coach Pitch division is the introductory division in League City Little League and is comprised of eligible players ages 6 and 5 who haven’t played organized baseball before and were registered prior to other divisional evaluations. The Coach Pitch division is instructional for all players with a heavy focus on learning the basics of baseball, including fielding, throwing, running, and batting off of a coach or a tee.

h. Challenger – The Challenger division is comprised of any special needs child, ages 5 to 22, if they are enrolled in school, and cannot meld into other divisions comfortably.  Registration for this division will take place in January.

Below are important dates for the Spring 2024 Season.  Registration will open at 8:00am on December 1st and we anticipate some divisions filling up within 24 hours.  If you try to register and your player is waitlisted, don’t get discouraged.  We activated 99% of players from the waitlist this past Fall season, so if your player starts on the waitlist, they may not end up there.  Please DO NOT register your player in more than one division as it creates inaccuracies in our available player numbers.  The system numbers become inaccurate when we are attempting to move players from the wait list that are also registered.  If you register in more than one division your entire Spring Registration will be cancelled.  The league will get with managers at evaluations and if a player needs to be moved based on skill, we will work to make that happen but you do not need to register in multiple divisions.
