Welcome to the Players' Corner!

Here you'll find tons of info and tips on how to give yourself the edge on the soccer pitch.

Player Expectations:

Before we dive into anything else, you need to know your role in our club and what will be expected of you. Becoming a successful soccer player is a long road. Here is a list of basic expectations that, if you follow them, will get you off to a good start:

  1. Be dedicated to becoming the best soccer player that your physical talents allow you to be. Play at home or after school with your friends!
  2. Be willing to work very hard while enjoying yourself.
  3. Have a coachable spirit. Listen to and implement your coach's instructions quickly and effectively. Ask questions of the coach if the instructions are unclear.
  4. Be an unselfish team player who puts the team's needs first before your own. Your team will be more successful if all the players cooperate.
  5. Players will refrain from using profanity during games and practices.
  6. Players will not engage in disparaging dialogue with referees, teammates, coaches, opponents, or spectators. Check out the FA's Repect Program below for specific details.
  7. Players will make every attempt to notify the coach prior to missing a practice in order to receive and excused absence.

Ball Mastery

The basic idea behind Ball Mastery is simple: the more touches you get on the ball, the better and more comfortable you are with the ball at your feet. This leads to increased confidence, awareness, and some pretty sweet skills! Think about the best players in the world, and I'll tell you that as a kid, they spent nearly every waking minute with their soccer ball. We want you to love having the ball at your feet!

Check out our Ball Mastery page and learn some great techniques to practice at home or with your friends!

FA Respect Program

We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game.

As a player, you have a big part to play. That's why The FA is asking every player to follow a Respect Code of Conduct.

When playing football, I will:
  • Always play to the best of my ability
  • Play fairly--I won't cheat, complain, or waste time
  • Respect my teammates, the other team, the referee, or my coach/manager
  • Play by the rules, as directed by the referee
  • Shake hands with the other team and referee at the end of the game
  • Listen and respond to what my coach/team manager tells me
  • Talk to someone I trust or the club welfare officer if I'm unhappy about anything at my club

I understand that if I do not follow the Code any/all of the following actions may be taken by my club.
I may:
  • Be required to apologise to my teammates, the other team, referee, or team manager
  • Receive a formal warning from the coach or the club committee
  • Be dropped or substituted
  • Be suspended from training
  • Be required to leave the club

In addition:
  • My club may make my parent or guardian aware of any infringements of the Code of Conduct
